Okay guys, on my 03 XB9 with 33k miles, custom exhaust, factory filter. I am looking at doing some work with the ECM. I know the ECM's have changed/improved through the years.

I at bare minimum want to do a TPS reset as it has probably been a long time since it was done.

What would be the most cost-effective/beneficial improvement that could be done? I don't have gobs of cash to throw down right now. Would a TPS reset and ECMspy be good enough? Or should I think about installing the Race maps or a Race/EBR ecm?

Thanks,
Spencer

Getting a cable and doing some logging and fuel maps will go a long way for the little bit of money.

Thanks Greg, does anyone have a link to a good write up on logging/fuel maps?

Thanks,
Spencer

Well I have a cable that a fellow member sold to me for practically nothing (THANKS AGAIN). I am definitely going to do a TPS reset as there as no telling when it was last done. I will search around and see if I can find a writeup on logging/fuel maps

Thanks,
Spencer

Also check the static ignition timing to make sure no one messed it up. If you don't have one, get the factory service manual, I think you can order it from American Sport Bike, or get it from your nearest dealer.

I've got the factory manual downloaded online, excuse my ignorance but what is the static ignition timing and what does it do? (I'm a tuber guy trying to learn the XB ways). The original owner who had it the first 25k miles was a harley mechanic for the dealership so it was maintained wonderfully, the previous owner has had buells since the 90s and knows his stuff and has maintained it meticulously but the bike now has 34k miles and I like to check things myself just to be safe (I never trust anyone lol). The previous owner didnt touch anything electrical other than the white wire ECM mod to my knowledge so it probably hasnt been messed with.

Thanks,
Spencer
