I found information on '08 and earlier but it sounds like ECM Spy won't work on my '09. I downloaded TunerPro but don't know what I'm doing. I really just want 2 things: 1) to reset my error codes and 2) to test my new fan. I'm still throwing the exact same codes as before after changing out the fan. Any help or advice appreciated as I was hoping to bolt everything else back on tonight to ride tomorrow. No need to mess with it if something is still wrong with my fan. Thanks

If error codes are saved in the ECM I could put on my old one. The only code it should have is from the dead exhaust actuator from way back when.

Ran out of time this morning to mess with old ECM. I did go ahead and ride into work and the CEL was on entire time ... same over lunch as well. I also did not hear the fan, but who knows maybe the new fan is quiet compared to my old one that was drowning in oil. I have probably only started up the bike a half dozen times since changing out the fan ...

but I'm hoping I can figure out some way to reset the error codes prior to 50 start ups lasting at least 30 seconds each. I guess that is how long it takes for codes to drop off on their own.

Anybody have experience resetting codes on an 09 using TunerPro or ECMSpy, or know of a way to test the fan without taking everything back apart?

If the light is still on, it means the computer sees the same problem as before.

If the problem isn't really in existance, then the problem is how the ECU sees the world. In other words, wiring harness or the ECU itself. Since you swapped the ECU already, time to start poking wires and checking your grounds.

One other thing:
VERIFY that the error code is the same and not something new. Don't assume it's the same problem that you just fixed.
Perhaps something else got poked along the way during the previous repair.

Follow this guide from Xopti on how to use TunerPro to reset your codes and run the fan test:

Thanks Nate & Froggy. I did check the codes, same 2 as before ... fan & speed sensor. I will check out the link from Xopti and try to play with the codes & the fan. Thanks again.

Just an FYI, you need to be using the RT version of Tunerpro to use the Buell plugin for live data/diagnostics
