Alright so I have an XB12R, with race ecm and the check engine light only comes on when the bike is in neutral. Warms up and rides like a champ otherwise. I even hooked it up to my ecmspy and no codes pop.

Perhaps it's a simple wiring-rubbing through between the two indicators.
I have never heard of this before though.

You could experiment and unhook the neutral switch's wire to see if it changes the symptom.

I would wager that your enemy lies in the wiring surrounding the steering.
Take the plastic off and poke at the wires while it's doing its weird behavior.
