Has anyone done this to raise compression? What about doubling up on them to lower compression? Just wondering... |

Yes, but not me. I've only heard of it in racing situations though. Not heard of doubling up, that would seem to be problematic. Just go to a thicker gasket. |

I removed the base gasket in my bike not too long ago. It made the bike quite a bit meaner, but do so at your own risk. The only time I had pinging was yesterday on the way home. 97 degrees and bumper to bumper. Sounded like the whole engine was falling apart. Don't forget to check piston to valve clearance. The last thing you want is to smash a valve into a piston on a rebuilt engine. Just my .02 |
