He's claiming to use Ebay Buyer Protection and wanting money sent via Western Union, and sent me a very real looking Ebay invoice.

Have verified thru ebay that this is a scam.

Usually with a scam like that they tell you the bike is in storage in another state and they're going through a divorce.

Very common on Craigslist

Pretty much anything involving the words "Western Union" and/or "Purchasing agent" and/or "Escrow" is a scam.

It looks like someone copied the text and pictures off a legit auction and then used them to try and bait people with that free classified ad.

I always find a nearby town and say "I have a friend who can check it out for me" (easy to find a nearby town)

Sent him the following just for giggles:

I see you are in Boise, can I have a friend stop and inspect for me? I live in CA but he lives right there in Meridian and can check it out. I'd have him make payment for me.

We'll see.

An invitation to a face-to-face usually gets NO response.

This'll be fun.

It's funny how the guy that is selling the bike writes a paragraph of response and doesn't answer your question.

He emailed me that its in Colorado in a crate ready to ship. That's also where he wanted the Western Union sent. I forwarded everything to eBay and stumblehere. Oh, I have 5 days to inspect it and if I don't like it I ship it back at his expense. HA.

I had talked to a guy on the phone insisting on using paypal to protect him and me... yadda yadda yadda... I do not trust deals on the internet with strangers period.

If I can do a deal in person or send someone I know and trust to do it that is fine. As soon as this guy started to pressure me I hung up on him... easy to figure out who the turds are...
