Hi Guys/Gals I am in need of a replacement clutch cable Part #38613-03C. It snapped by the perch on the way to work today : ( Other than Buellparts . net is there ANY where else to buy one?

I can't seem to find any other options that might be a little cheaper. Even Motion Pro doesn't offer anything...Any help is much appreciated!

Any one of the many many dealers out there. Parts availability is not an issue. I suggest one of our sponsor dealers like Bumpus or American Sport Bike.

when you get the new one, be careful screwing it into the primary. the hollow bolt on the end is made of peanut brittle

I just ordered one from Al at American Sport Bike. I went to adjust mine and broke the threaded piece that sits under the water collecting accordion seal. Same price as my local dealer (that doesn't have one) quoted me. I'll be riding it the way it is till the part comes in.

Thanks for the tips everyone! Andymnelson: can you elaborate some? When I did a google search for this part only buellparts . net shows up. And last time I checked my local dealership they were 'phasing' out all there buell parts...

I'll check American Sport Bike but I just wanted to shop around a bit before I bought the first one I saw.

Hardly any HD dealership ever stocked Buell parts, but there are many many that will still order them for you.

I recommend either calling Al @ American Sport Bike or LJ in parts at Bumps HD. Either will take GREAT care of you, and both sponsor this forum as well.

How different are sportster cables from our bikes' cables?
I suppose length is wrong but the ends are probably the same.
with creative routing, could a sporty cable work?

Just curious.

the sportster cable (this is just my guess) is probably way too long besides I am sure it would be close to the same price if not more.

I was just thinking of field repair availability. You are more likely to find a sportster part in stock at a dealer than the correct Buell part.

Yeah the little ball end snapped off in the perch on mine, sucks! Wish they made a way to just repair/replace that part instead of the whole cable. I know there is a lot of stress on that part though.

For a field repair or temporary fix you can buy the crimp on ends from a bicycle shop.

Another way would be to carry a small butane torch and lead to fix the end. That's how they were doing it on one of the chopper building shows on tv.
