Jersey where did you get the idle sprocket? Also it looks like your chain is a little loose. When I get another XB I will making it a convert.

After 8 years of not having to mess with a chain, I'm not missing them at all.

Maybe 1 tooth bigger on the idler to take some of the slack. Looks good. Hows the ride? Maybe a couple plastic wear pieces on the swing arm. Or, leave the idler alone, drop 1 tooth in the rear, and remove a link.

So is the adjustable swingarm a necessity? Or can you convert to chain and run the stock arm w/o issues?

If you can make the chain so it doesn't saw the stock swing arm off, then you should be able to make an adjustable idle wheel to take up the slack. Might put a higher force on the idler but the idler is much easier to fabricate than the swingarm. Anyway, that's how I would approach a chain conversion. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't and that's why they went with the adjustable swingarm.

The only drawback that I see from a non-adjustable system is that as the chain stretches, it will become looser...........how bout an adjustable idler arm?

Trojan-Horse has the kit that can be used with the stock swing arm. It has the chain idler and spring loaded tensioner. It doesn't look like the parts can be purchased separately though.

Jersey what tooth count are your sprockets? 51/21?

I am going with a 20T front and possibly a 51 or 52 rear.

I ordered a PBI 277-20T for the front and a Dayco 89005 idler pulley. I was thinking about going with the GrandStand Designs rear since it closely matches the rear rim or maybe the Vortex 827K-52.
