Author Message   Atlas10101 Posted on Saturday, April 23, 2011 - 10:12 pm:        So after diagnosing an intermittent engine problem with you guy on my xb12ss, it fell into other problems. So I had my parts on the way for new plugs/wires, new o2 sensor and k&n cleaner. Mainanance plod hopefully fixing a engine code that I was throwing. I was riding on a nice NC day and what is next but my wheel bearing goes out. Woot. But to a quick question should the shop have to take off my rotor and sprocket in order to put new bearings in? I would prefer not to have to buy all the hardware for taking these items off with out at least putting ona new rotor. But the absolute prefered method is not replacing any of it right now. And suggestion hints etc for the process?   Froggy Posted on Saturday, April 23, 2011 - 10:23 pm:        I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. The wheel bearings can be changed without removing the rotor or sprocket.   Andymnelson Posted on Sunday, April 24, 2011 - 01:16 am:        correct. But make sure to also replace the aluminum spacer between the bearings. And make sure that the shop has the manual for a Buell and KNOWS what they are doing! The sprocket side bearing does NOT get fully seated! Following the manual procedure is crucial.
