Very nice. I just had mine apart over winter for similar work. And actually, it's back apart again...but I digress.

What did you use to clean up the aluminum parts so nice? I started off with Dawn, then moved to Deep Creep, Honda cleaner, etc. They are better looking, but nowhere near as clean as yours. Seems like those 17k miles have taken a permanent home on my parts.

Damn....
That looks good.

Did you do anything to the motor besides a good clean and paint?

Thanks fellas! I'm really pleased with how it turned out. I got new tires on after those pics too.(pilot roads)

1324-I used purple stuff cleaner, a toothbrush, and the big pipe cleaner looking brushes.

I figured while i was taking it apart i may as well do the things i wanted to get done. I would have hated to take it apart just to paint stuff.

I would really like to get it tuned now. It's got a map from Al @ american sportbike but i would like to make sure it's where it needs to be. I don't really trust anyone locally to touch it though.

Very excellent.

Certainly one of the very nicest XB9's ever.

If I might take the liberty of making a suggestion, it would be to try and find an older cast "Pegasus" timing cover, painted to match of course. The current one looks just a bit unfinished to my eye.

Congrats!

Thanks again for the compliments fellas!

Ripdog- It's a Micron full exhaust ceramic coated black.

NoBuell- I used Duplicolor high heat ceramic. Primer, color, and clear, lots of clear and then wet sanded and buffed out. The frame and plastic parts are the same minus the clear on the frame. It's just Duplicolor low gloss black.

Jon- Your opinion will always be taken into consideration as lil blackie was one of the best pupose built and good looking bikes out there. That cover is the stocker just turned around and polished out.

I tried to leave some silver, chrome, or polished parts here and there to break up the black. I may black chrome the seat rails, timing cover, and wheel lips. Possibly getting the forks anodizied black.

It's made by Michelob. I bought it at Foodlion. I always try different beers and that one was alright. Usually have no less than 5 different kinds in the beer fridge!
