03 or 04?

If 04...

Loosen the pinch bolts for the rear axle, loosen the axle (the REAR axle is normal, the FRONT axle is threaded backwards). The book says to loosen the rear axle roughly 15 turns to create slack in the belt. I generally just make sure I only lift the bike a few millimeters and take the axle completely out. I tend to roll the tire forwards and VERY VERY VERY carefully remove the belt from the rear pulley W/O twisting it or bending it. It takes a little time but be careful w/ the belt. The tire should roll right out. Both times I removed the rear tire I also removed the rear caliper but I don't remember if it was necessary.

If an '03 be VERY VERY VERY VERY careful w/ the belt and I believe you need to remove the belt guards (or at least one of them). Remember... Be CAREFUL w/ the belt.

The little torx wrench and the tire tool that came in your "tool kit"
Some allen wrenches, and a stand (or something to hold the bike up)
A wrench for the idle pulley.
The sizes of wrenches I forgot.
And be careful with that belt!
I speak from experience.

i used a 6 inch C-clamp to break the bead, and some soapy water and little "enduro" tire irons. dunlops came off real easy. almost scary how easy the 17 inch tires demount. also of interest: there are no balance weights on my front wheel. guess they got lucky at the factory? i put front metzeler on friday, was in a rush to get out the door, did not check balance. seems real smooth so far. i am really liking my Z6 road techs. nice pair of skins.

Best thing you can do is buy the service manual. Pretty much tells you how to do about anything as far as servicing goes.
