Got my new ecm in the mail the other day (thanks dave)so I decided to put it on and see what the bike did. Of course it ran like shat so i put the old ecm back in. While riding i noticed that the bike didn't sound right, it wasn't nearly as loud as it used to be, but the power was still good.I also was only getting about 87 miles before the fuel light comes on(norm is about 130-140). So i take the bike to the the dealership, install new ecm in parking lot, and have them reset my tps. Whalla, bike is loud as ever and fuel mileage is back to norm. Seems like the bike didn't like swapping ecm's around. If you've got fuel mileage problems reset the tps and see what happens.

Funny how some have to learn the hard way about the TPS reset. LOL

Yeahcmon...Glad to hear everything cleared up once the job was completed. Nothing worse that your best toy not being up to par.

that would be me that is having issues. I want to get it reset but I am also told that it may be the o2 sensor. im gonna have to get the tps reset either way but i just dont want to have to have it done several times.

was the idle of your bike irrational as well?

Question...I understand the need to get the TPS reset when changing ECM's, but does it need to be reset again when a new O2 sensor is installed? Assuming the O2 sensor was functioning properly when the ECM was installed and the TPS reset.

I would think that if the 02 sensor was bad at the time the new ECM was installed that the TPS would need to be reset when the new O2 sensor is installed, but sure would like to know a definitive answer.

Mookie,
Yes the idle was erratic, it dropped about 200 rpm and fluctuated about 300rpm.
