Update.....

Still no luck. Been thinking about following some other posts and using the straight through Magnaflow design muffler, Oval shaped. Read that I need a 90 degree bend to attach to headers althought the pics look different than my 03 9R. Only problem is gonna be attaching the spring hooks.

Greg- if I go this route you'll be first to get a PM with any leftover/extras I got!

Try to find something the same size as the Jardine so you can use all the mounts. I did manage to get most of another Jardine, so all I would really want is the center perforated pipe and a quiet insert if you have one, but we'll finalize when you get done.

I think with all the screwing around you are still going to end up with something like a modified stock exhaust so you might almost better just go that way.

true true. Think I've found exactly what I'm looking for. http://www.buellxb.com/Buell-XB-Forum/Buell-Lightn ing-XB12S-XB12Ss-CityX-XB12Scg/Buell-aftermarket-p arts/Latus-Wannabe He used an Edelbrock thats discontinued, but the Magnaflow 11148 is similar in size and design, can be had for $90 shipped online. 2.5 inlet, dual 2 inch outlets, gonna get 2 45 degree elbows welded on to direct flow away from tires and voila!

When I'm done you can take the baffle or can, I'll let ya know, If its less than 10 bucks to ship you don't owe me anything. might be a week for me to finalize things.

the edelbrock idea came from Latus exhaust which was the same thing it was just made to fit xbs and the put the mounts for a chin fairing. the top one in this picture is the latus to give you furthure ideas.

Yeah that vid is pretty sick. Guess I'mma order the magnaflow 11148 today, see where/how to get some 45 degree elbows put on and how to mount this!

My mounting are looks different than pics I've seen though, my downpipe/header end is parallel to the bottom of the engine, doesn't look like I need the connector? EDIT- maybe because I have the jardine system on that comes with an elbow?

that magnaflow seems cool, I had a jardine on my 08 xb12s, and it basically cripled my bike. It made the plugs foul out and eventually the bike wouldnt run. I had to switch back to stock muffler cause I cant get any of the ecmspy programs or ecmread, ecmspy for mono, just none of them seem to work on my bike. Anyways, I wanna different exhaust on there and I am a certified welder but I dont wana take all the time to make a nice muffler and then have it ruin the way my bike runs. If I could get a version of ecmspy to work on my bike, I could get a sweeet muffler setup. I know people talk about ecmspy like they are the only people who know how to use it and no one else could possibly do it or figure it out, but those people arent exactly genius's and they learned it so I know I can. Just frustrating, if i could just meet someone who was willing to share what they know about that program I could probably post some good ideas for muffler builds with the proper brackets and back preasure. Sorry if you think I am jacking your thread and I dont mean to offend anyone. I just think this might be relative to the topic. If I can help ANYONE with ANYTHING I will do my absolute best

Sorry to hear that Justun!! Yeah I've always had some bogging and such with my Jardine, figured it might be I bought it with no packing, but even after I felt it could've done better. But oh well. I will share my Magnaflow 11148 exhaust story with ya'll. Just bought it for $81.00 shipped : ) Appreciate the help Justun, might need ya'lls help for tuning this mofo!! Open airbox and Magnaflow Latus-clone!

I had a Jardine on my Blast...it actually held up well...the rivets were just beginning to loosen a little when I traded it in on the XB.

The XB has a stock muffler...I wanted a Buell race can for it, but all I can find are either banged up or stupid expensive...

I called Jardine and bought the elbow for a few bux and then ordered the muffler...the Jardine elbow has a bracket that bolts in place, eliminating the front hanger strap...fab work is old hat for me..It is sure not an original idea...I stumbled across a thread in another forum, where a guy started building exhaust just this same way...it looked good, so I will give it a try...it's not much money and if it don't work out like I expect...it will be like Bert Rutan would say..."we just eliminated another wrong way to do this"...: )

In case anyone needs to know...the type of stainless steel used in the Magnaflow model 11148 muffler is: Type 436 for the case and caps....Type 409 for the tubing.

Tech services says any type of stainless wire can be used for a rust-free weld (if you use mild steel the strenght will be fine, but the weld itself will rust).

Dang Fast1075, you got your knowledge on lock!!!

My exhaust came in Friday. My buddy's gonna help weld/fab up some stuff for it, but he lives an hour away and in Virginia (worst traffic ever). So have to ride down with the leaky Jardine with the Magnaflow in my backpack and have him do it up. It fits right on the Jardine elbow, right? What should I use to attach it, a muffler clamp or have him weld it to the elbow? Maybe I missed that information in the threads I was reading.

Clamps are going to be your biggest issue, the ride home could be really unpleasant. Make damn sure that you get it clamped to the bike well before you ride it or you could be breaking exhaust studs.

Aite thanks Greg, I will. Maybe a weld would be better? The Magnaflow never needs repacking : ) or so they say, and lifetime warranty.

Also, when I get it done, PM me your addy and I will ship you the old Jardine, the whole thing, just the baffle, whatever ya need man.

Update....just received my elbow pipe from Jardine a few minutes ago...it fits nicely into the inlet of the muffler It is 2" ID on the inlet side and 2.25 OD on the outlet side...looks good with some really nice TIG welds......will need to trim the inlet pipe on the muffler back a bit (it looks like)...now all I am waiting for is my piece of SS flat stock and the new torca clamps and what looks like a relatively easy fab session...

On a tight budget and don't mind if your bike sounds like a sportster with drag pipes? Cut the back of your muffler off (just in front out the outlet) and then remove the pipe that goes from the rear baffle to the outlet, cut an extra hole on the other side to match your first outlet. Then get two matching tips from any auto parts store and with a little welding, you have a dual outlet stock muffler that still has it's structural integrity for jack points.

It is a bit obscene as far as volume goes, but the mid range is HUGE.

Mock ups...sorry "bout the cellphone pics, but you get the idea. The turnouts are not yet welded on, or the rear support "bridge"..more to follow.

Oh...and of course I cranked it up....at an idle is THROBS...the bass note has authority.

Very cool Fast. My pops just said I should ask to borrow a welder around here locally, and maybe Lowes has large enough strap for it and Pep Boys would have an exhaust clamp unless we weld it to the elbow.

That's not a spec ops; its a Voodoo (aka tattoo72). IIRC he no longer builds pipes.
