What size is this bolt and why isn't it just a pin like other calipers? Mine is stripped and I need to change the pads. My original plan was to cut off the pads and use some vise grips to remove the bolt, but unless someone gives me reason not to, I may just drill it out and put a pin and clip in its place.

The reason the pin is different is probably the same reason why the whole brake system is different, its a Buell.

Just drill it out and pick up another pin from Al at American Sport Bike. Here is a link.

Thanks for the link! With it, I got a good idea with what iras working with, and drilled the old bolt out. I left the threaded head in the caliper and bored the backside of the caliper and made a pin as I had mentioned. Now it's a tool-free job to remove the pads.
