I recently purchased a race kit for an XB9R and installed the muffler to see what the sound was like. It was way too loud for my preference...in a way that was a bit harsh. It is also way too loud for where I live.

Now...this may be funny because I wear a hearing aid but with the race muffler when I get on the throttle, the ear WITHOUT the aid in it is sensing some pretty loud and irritating sounds.

I really like the tone of the stock muffler but wanted that type of sound amplified by about 1.5 times in terms of volume but with the same tone and lacking any seriously raspy/harsh sounds.

I am listening to the Drummer sound file and am comparing it to the sound files I recorded on my PDA of the stock muffler and race muffler. The Drummer sounds like it is in between the two and the tone sounds similar to stock but maybe a bit deeper.

Has anyone heard the Race Kit, Drummer, Stock, and other mufflers? I am kind of on my own out here since I have not seen any other Buells in the Pismo Beach, CA area at all so far. I don't really have anything to compare to unless I purchase and try it out.

Thanks for any input you may have on this.

The Buell race kit exhuast was pretty quiet i thought.

Try the Jardine, very deep sounding and priced very reasonable at around $230.

I've had 2 and am back on the original
Latus Racing - Awesome but way way way too loud. My ears hurt after a 45 min ride.
Wileyco - Great construction, sounds good. Not too loud but really strange bracket system for mounting the chin fairing.
Drummer feedback has been good here but it is supposedly louder than the Buell race unit.

I'm Still Looking. Want to sell your race kit muffler?

After owning the stock muffler, the buell race muffler, and now the D&D I am very surprised to hear anyone say that the buell race muffler is too loud. I think the only one that's quieter then the Buell race muffler is the stock one....you might be SOL.

Bykergeek: I am looking to sell the muffler and ECM (I purchased Race Kit but only used K&N Filter and added XB12R air filter cover). I am willing to sell each individually. Muffler sells for $350 New and ECM for $200 new.

Muffler has 5 minutes on it (one test ride) and ECM is still in the box and never been installed.

I would prefer buyer pay for shipping (have to figure out how this is done)...I think one can call for pickup from FEDEX by paying for shipping and providing address.

Make an offer...I just need to recover some of the cost...I understand I will take a loss to some degree.

Buellny: Thanks for the feedback...I have done some work on cars and stock systems for Harleys with pretty good results.

Perhaps I will take a swag at the stock can myself just to open it up a little more. Kind of looking forward to researching this a bit again.

Johncr250: Thanks for your input...looking like I will do the work myself.

Glad I didn't say anything about police looking my way if I had a loud exhaust after looking at your profile!

Take care and ride aggressive but safe...
