I haven't got my bike back yet from service, but what should I be looking for as far as the bracket for fairing previously discussed?

Someone (i`m not sure who) reported that one of brackets that hold the fairing on was aluminum and that it broken off on his XB.

The few Jardine pipes that i`ve seen (including mine) the brackets were stainless steel.

But if anything breaks send it back to Jardine, and they will replace it right away.

Buellster ... The Jardine have on my 9R looks spectacular and has great sound. The problem with the chin fairing brackets is as follows. The pipe I bought is apparently one of the first attempts Jardine has made at after-market parts for the Buell. Unfortunately, they chose to make the chin fairing brackets out of aluminum and they promptly rattle in half. My left on went first and they replaced it with a steel bracket. However, that didn't prevent the right side from also breaking the same way. Haven't had any further problems with the left side steel replacement, but have been through 2 more aluminum on the right. According to the company, they are in the process of having the right side bracket manufactured in steel so I can put my chin fairing back on. In the mean time, my chin fairing has suffered some slight cosmetic damage (which I'm still trying to hash out with Jardine). If you purchase a Jardine, contact the company immediately for the steel replacements that may or may not be available. You may also want to keep the chin fairing off until they are installed (view my profile to see xb w/out chin fairing). So far, the company has been good about keeping in touch with us on the status of the right side bracket, but nothing has actually materialized. Disappointed on that note.

Does the Jardine have jacking points under the muffler?

No you can`t jack on a Jardine. It only weights a few pounds.

Just got my Jardine for my xb9r. Thought I would take some pics before I mounted it. One fairing bracket, the smaller one, is steel. The larger fairing bracket is aluminum. I will likely make one from steel to replace it before I mount the fairing. This is a straight through pipe as you can see in one pic. I will try to do some sound clips later.

Damn that looks good! Is it much smaller, shorter, or lighter than the stock pipe? I would think it would have to be. Good luck and show us the picks when your done.

Ok, the Jardine is on. What a pain to mount. I never thought it could be worse than the stock pipe, but it was. You have to remove the aluminum brackets, the curved ones that the stock pipe rests against. This means removing the oil lines from the swingarm. I also took off the stickers. I will have some pics later.

The initial ride felt good. Maybe someday I will get back to a dyno. I mainly got it for sound and looks though. It is not as loud as the Latus I had on my bike, that I thought was way too loud. It is louder than my modified stock pipe. It has a very deep rumble to it that I am sure you can't really hear in a sound clip, but I made one anyway. Enjoy.

jardine2

Here are some pics. The interesting thing about the jardine is that it can be mounted with the outlet facing right or left just by flipping the pipe over.

I'm going for a ride now.

I`ve had the Jardine on my XB12 for over 1000 miles and the pipe rips!!!

Best part the pipe is pretty cheap too, i paid $230 and no tax!

Get out there are enjoy your Buell!

I have the complete Jardine Exhaust on my RC51.

The fit and finish of their exhausts systems are second to none. Maybe that why Team Honda uses them on their racebikes.

Their customer service is incredible too.

The endcap on the Jardine Can on my RC51 loosened up last year after it was on the bike for about 18 months. All i did was call them once and they overnighted me a new can free. And paid for the frieght of the old can back.

I was impressed!

I like in with out the chin fairing too. Who cares if the aluminum brackets were failing...leave it off. Capt Planet must be enjoying his handy work! I'm jealous and stuck in an office...

The can looks and sounds great, thank you for the sound clip Captain.

Does anyone have many miles on one of these yet? I wonder how those mounts will hold up. The fairing bracket failures may be an indication of their product testing, and the tube frames seemed pretty hard on similar mounting systems.

XB9gRl's bracket broke the second day Roc. Like John said though, their customer service is great and they're fixing it...

The rear bracket is heavy duty with a heavy gauge stainless strap, so it looks more than adequate. The front mount is directly to the engine from the sbend pipe going to the muffler. This pipe is attached to the muffler via the spring so it does allow for movement. I guess only time will tell. What I am sure of is that Jardine stands behing their products, unlike some others.

The Jardine looks and sounds cool! Good pics!

Looking at your bike, I still can't get over how good XB9's look without the belt guards!

Hey Captain...

Was there more than just the loudness of the Latus that you didn't like that made you switch to the Jardine?

The Latus compared to the Jardine.

Latus: Built heavier, can use jack under it. Above 3000rpm too loud for me. Otherwise very well built.

Jardine: Way lighter, Not as loud, Shiny, can repack when needed.

I would like to get one and put more yellow back there....looks kind of weird to me with all of the yellow up front and nothing on the back.

If you still got it and want to get rid of it, I'd be interested in the Latus.
