Ok this is going to sound dumb. But i am brand new to Buell. When you start the buell it make a loud noise sounds like a fuel pump? Is that normal. And any idea where i can get an owners manual online?

Owner's manuals are at the top of the page.
http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/32777.html
If you mean Service Manual to download, you may find one, but it's an illegal copy.
It is the fuel pump, and is normal.

WELCOME TO THE BADWEB!!!

Firebolt... welcome to the family and I hope you get many great sMILES out of your new steed. Here's my quick crash course intro into Buells... this could save you some pain later on...

Take these as you wish. It is not law.

1. NEVER open the throttle during a cold start. The air cooled motors can and will foul the spark plugs. To perform a cold start properly simply start the bike and leave the throttle alone until you are at operating temperature. Understand that you can certainly go ride but try and let her warm up a little bit before you beat on her hard.

2. The fans will run after shut off and are loud, no worries there.

2. Occasionally you will hear a pop through the intake upon decel...this too is normal.

3. MAKE SURE...100% NO DOUBT that your kickstand is FULLY extended before you dismount and walk away. I always roll back once it's on the ground a little bit to ensure that it is fully extended.

4. Your fuel cap may or may not get a little stiff when you try to remove it. This normally happens when the twin spar frame gets really hot. PUSH DOWN to aide the release of the barrel lock and firmly twist counter clockwise. Slow and smooth.

5. Have a great time and be safe!

Just some tips from me to you... hope some of them help.

Favorite responses to the most common questions you will get from fans that gather whenever you stop:

1. Hey man when does that fan stop running? Answer: That's my turbo winding down.

2. Hey man, you have one headlight out. Answer: No, they alternate and do it quickly when I'm chasing bad guys (flick the hi/low beam)

3. Hey man, what model Ninja is that? (always asked when not running) Answer: Do you really think a rice-rocket would sound like this? And then proceed to fire it up!

(Please chime in with more, I love these!)

Whats that, a 600?

Whats a....a.....Beeuwell?

And my favorite so far, from a friend that rides a Victoy, "If I didn't have one leg, I would be on one of those". (Yes, he really has one leg, and rides with a prosthetic. Damn good rider too.)

I finally just started telling everyone 'I know I have a light out'... I was asked that everywhere and got tired of explaining it!

And if you ride with Harley guys, they will not believe a 1200 (and I am sure a 900) will smoke a big, loud, heavy 1340. But after you do, the look on their faces is priceless!

LOL @ Is that a french bike. There are many French peeps in Wisconsin..maybe Eriks name is french : )

The Knowledge Vault and XBoard are your best friends. Search, read and welcome to the dark side! If you enjoy going 180 miles gunrunning down the highway, you made a bad decision. If you enjoy an easy to drive, badass handling American monster, you're ready to rumble : )

Oh and if any inline dudes give you shyt, just wait till you get better at riding and eat em up in the corners.

My favorite Q/A session at a red light thus far:

Q:What kind of bike is that?
A: A Buell Firebolt.
Q:Who makes it?
A: Buell.
Q:Yeah but who makes it?

No what you need to do with the light question is this

DB Hey you have a light out.
U I do?
(lean forward look down and hit the brights toggle so both come on. Then lean back release the toggle) and say they seem to both be on. repeat as nec.

That's too funny!

I pulled that one on a buddy. He said I had a light out. I flipped the switch and asked which one? He would look and say right, then I would flip the switch while he was talking to me and then ask again, "which one" and he would say the other. It can go on forever!

Guy at work told another guy in my hearing that I rode a scooter. I responded that he drove a peugeot. He got belligerent that at least his Dodge Ram pickup was made in America. I promptly responded that my 1203cc Buell was made 50 miles from here in Wisconsin, clown.

Be prepared to say "Thank you" a lot.....best thing to say when you get a compliment. I've got them from other riders of course but also from kids and old folks too. There is a lot more respect for a Buell than ever even from the rice rocket crowd or the H-D guys in the know than many realize. Enjoy

biggest complement I ever got about my bike was shortly after I get it.

a friend of the family and a die hard HD fan who has owned 16 Harleys all traded after no less than 60,000miles on the odo (he has been riding for 35 or so years) looked over my bike

"now that's how a Harley should sound and run, why they don't they put that engine in my bike is beyond me"
"that Erik Buell has done great things with these bikes"

he also complemented the look of the bike too and wished that he could have our brakes too.

then an ass clown began to rant about how my bike was an ugly underpowered lump of a hybrid motorcycle that wasn't a Harley or a sport bike. then he bragged up his 1980 something or other Suzuki... or kawi... or something... everybody laughed after he left.

I have hear more good things than bad with my bike but to be honest even if I heard all bad it sill wouldn't bother me that much because I spend more time enjoying my bike than I do wondering what people think about it.

Oddly enough the XB gets a lot of attention with whatever group I ride with. Even strangers will walk up and just strike up a conversation about it. It doesnt matter if Im at a Harley gathering or with a group of sport bikes. Ive noticed my 1125R gets less attention. There is really something special about the XB line.

I used to get the "is that a 600?" question quite a bit...

My answer, "yes, my front cylinder is. And so is my rear cylinder."
