Do you guys hear your fuel injectors when the bike is running at idle. I just picked up an 05 XB12S and I don't remember my XB9R doing this...

It's basically the same sound you hear when you first turn the bike on (prior to start up) but constantly. Once I rev and start moving the exhaust sound drowns it out...

I think what you are hearing is the fuel pump. Any running issues?

keep an eye out on ebay for an 06+ fuel pump. Much quieter and when the tank gets low it won't surge as bad.

Sorry, you're right, fuel pump. Not really any issues. The only thing I noticed is that at idle, if I give it a really quick shot of throttle and release, it almost wants to stall. But under "normal" riding it seems fine. Haven't noticed any flat spots or anything either, but I haven't been "looking" for them. I'll be more concious of it now and see if I notice anything...

Thats due to the large throttle bodies and air intake system, not your fuel pump.

I don't remember my XB9R doing this...

If you had left your 9R stock (i.e. not removed the snorkle), I can imagine this observation. The intake on the new bikes is straight thru the front (grill by around the gas cap).

Take the intake snorkle out of the 9R and you'll smooth out the low end [power off of idle] and hear the tappets and pick up a real satisfying honk when you trounce it.
