Definitely walk on that deal. There are plenty other places near by that might have what you are looking for. Call up some of our sponsors and see what they can do to either sell you the bike you need and ship it to you, or find one close to you.

Packing their margins.

I've had dealers try packing a good 18-20% in add-on charges. Just renews my total dislike for salesmen and hd dealers.

Only pay what you feel is right chigrl. You only need to please yourself.

I am just frustrated and disappointed. I have been a loyal customer, buying parts and service from them when I could have gone elsewhere or online for cheaper parts but I wanted to support them because they were local and truly seemed to understand the Buell brand. I guess customer loyalty was a one way street. They seem to miss the big picture, the intangibles like future sales and referrals.

True, but not necessarily good business.
I have a meeting with the sales manager this afternoon and I am ready for this to be done one way or another. I have wasted way too much time and energy on this. Walking out without the bike last night made me realize that it is not the end of the world if I don't get the bike.

Not caring is the best policy but you would be better served if you knew your options before going in there.

There are others out there, even if you need to buy a used one. I would not rush into that deal unless it is about $6500 to $6700 plus tax and tags and I would be willing to take the papers to the DMV and deal with the registration myself (even though it takes almost no effort for them to do it there).

That's my opinion on the matter, but after hearing all the fees I would have got up and walked out without leaving a deposit in the first place.

If they are going to charge you that much they need to throw in an extended warranty for another 3 or more years, not even sure if this is possible with the current deals.

I don't think they do anything with the registration. I think I have to get the paperwork and stand in line and handle all the registration myself. I'm not sure what the $390 doc fee covers but that is the same fee I was charged on my new car
and I got was the paperwork to take to the DMV for registration and title.

I will walk (they may let me) if I don't get the bike under $7000 price, fees, taxes, everything out the door.

I find it interesting that the total of their fees is higher than what I paid on my new car.

I just bought a 09 SCG yesterday. $6981+Taxes+Some other fees=$7481 OTD. I would of paid more considering about a year ago I priced the same bike and it was $12+ OTD. Either way you look at your getting a good deal. If you want it go buy it. You won't regret it.

I'd walk away from that deal without even thinking twice (unless you really want the bike and have no other options). It's just bad business and insulting, IMHO, to add on those ridiculous fees like some scheming used car dealership. Just look at the cost of the fees as a percentage of the bike. Freight and tax are of course legit. The rest is fluff.

I'd take my business elsewhere, but I tend get fired up about stuff like this.

This is how I feel. It's nice if you can save 500 bucks, but soon these bikes will be difficult to find in new condition.

If only I had the money for another one.

I met with the sales manager. He turned out to be a young, condescending, ass making statements I know are false. So
anyway, I walked. The salesman has become a friend and he will keep me posted if they have a change of heart.

Does anyone know when the HD incentives on the Buells end?

Supposed to last till they're gone it was claimed on here.

I just put deposits on a couple bikes. A lot more that I wanted to spend but time is dwindling. At least the quoted numbers weren't "oh, not including blah, blah, blah".

Not to hijack the thread but I was wondering what would one expect to pay for a brand new 07 XB12Scg w/ 20 miles on it given the current prices for the 09's? KBB has the 07's in the $7K range.

A quick look at one dealer has an 09 for $6999. That's not on the road cost but you should be able to get a bit lower on that 07 I'd think. Can't hurt to try.

The market is in such flux book values are likely off a bit.

Oddball, if you don't mind me asking...What dealership did you see that sticker for the 09? I am working a deal for an 09 Scg and the dealer i'm working with will match/beat any dealer approved quote. Thanks.

Good luck with your deal.

I checked autotrader when I was shopping around. I can find just under $6k listed in KY and TX today. I'm sure there is TTL but it's worth checking out. It made my price seem reasonable.

Widow Maker - May I ask what the breakdown of your fees were and what the total was out the door? Do they have any more XB12scgs? I was at my dealer today and the bike is still there, but I don't think they are gonna budge on the $1740 in fees + tax,

If anyone know of a cherry bomb cg at their dealer please let me know. Thanks

$5700 for the bike, $53 for title & plates. $00.00 taxes. Active duty military stationed in KY, dont' have to pay sales tax. They wanted 6k for it, asked me to make an offer and I said 5700, he came back, shook my hand and said you have a bike. I think I could have got it for $5500????? I went down to get an all black one, but the salesman said that someone had put a deposit on it, and he said that he had a black/red one in the back. Now it's in my garage. You close to N/W Kentucky?

Chigirl,

I have an SCG right now for $6995 plus TTL.

No doc fee, no dealer prep, no freight.

Shoot me a PM, we'll set up a $500 deposit, and complete the deal.

Thanks.

Hey, been lurking for a little bit. But I just got a cherry 09 scg for $6300. That included all fees, they then delivered for free (2.5 hours away). And are sending me a service manual. I bought it from Ryan from Laconia Harley. He was super friendly and said he'd beat any deal I could find.
Good luck,
George

fwiw, I just bought a 2010 Scg for $7398 OTD, with private delivery 3+ hrs away.

I, too, kept hearing about all these great sub-$6k deals everyone was getting, but it seemed whoever I called either didn't have any Buells left, or they weren't letting them go for $6k. most everyone I spoke with was right around $6900+/- plus taxes, fees, etc.

I'd have liked to have gotten mine cheaper, for sure, but in the grand scheme of things, do you really want to lose out on a new Buell XB12 over $1000? trust me, I don't exactly have the warm and fuzzy for the dealership, but hey, at least I managed to get one. they seem to be getting scarce.

also, about the $5k incentive. I've spoken with several dealers over the past few days. all said that the $5k incentive did not apply to the S models. not sure exactly what it did apply to, or what the real story is on that, but whatever.

just my .02

Go to another dealer! There should be plenty around you. Those fees are insane! Whatever you do quit going in that dealer and looking at that bike. The dealer isn't going to budge when you are doing that since they know you are still thinking about it!!
