Ok some may remember my previous thread on this.

The exhaust actuator on my 08 12R went kaput. I dropped my bike off with the dealership on 7/3. It is now almost a month later, and nothing. My bike still sits, "waiting for the part". A week n half ago I talked to them, they said it was backordered and it just got sent out.

Still nothing, I know the standard 7-10 shipping but WTF. They have multiple 09's sitting on the floor, and probably more in storage. I want to ride. What do I do.

I've thought about calling with a polite request to rob an 09 just so I can get on the road. On the other hand I'm tempted to say screw it, talk to the finance manager say I want to cancel my extended warranty, pick up the bike and zip tie the damn thing open until I can pick up either a drummer, or fab up a "Latus" type muffler.

I say cancel the extended only because I just want to say screw it and be able to work on the bike myself and get her done when I need it done, and not have to wait for a service department that doesn't really seem to care about the Buell side of things. I have two local Buell dealerships, and the other one, well I have heard even worse things about their service of Buells.

they should let you ride it while the part is on order then u drop it off for repairs once it arrives.they SHOULD have done that from the outset, and more once they knew it was back ordered.
i feel ur pain man

Just talked to one of the service writers today, apparently they've recieved a shipment of parts today, they just haven't gone through them. Hopefully its in there.

The squeaky wheel gets the oil. Keep on them, if they don't get it done real quick, call Buell Customer Service.

I would call Buell CS anyway and let them be aware of the situation. There's NO need to wait that long for a part and for your bike to be sitting in THEIR shop.

It would also, since the order has a specific number that can be tracker, easy to ask the dealer the "status". It will show, much like UPS or FedEx, precisely where it is and the estimated arrival time.

Simple.

My Blast has been sitting at the dealer for 3 weeks now. I'm going to go pick it up on sat. I guess they have better bikes to work on.

Well I recieved a voice mail on my way home from work last night. Figures the day I post, they recieve the part, the service writer who I've been dealing with said he would be on the mechs about getting my bike done TODAY....Freaking better be, its what 9 screws to get at and remove the actuator.

I know it only took me about 5 minutes to get to it the night before I took it in.

About the part being updated/revised. I'm thinking this is what happened and why its taken so long. They "ordered" the part on the 9th, told me the standard 7-10, I dropped in on the 10th day, no part but. The part was "backordered" and they were just then able to resubmit.

I'm thinking the updated part, has a new part #, they ordered the old part # and someone took a couple of days to say "no you can't do that", then they resubmitted with the new part# and I sit where I am today.

Going through the same thing with my 09 also. Ordered one off of that auction site ending in bay because the dealer wanted to keep the bike for an undisclosed amount of time.
