I was changing sparkplugs today and noticed the front cylinder spark plug wire boot was not pulled down over the plug. Not having luck messing around trying to get it to slide down into position, I removed the wire from the coil pack.
The wire has a hole worn in the outer insulation from where the boot was positioned. It looks like it was from the factory this way. Good thing I found this before wet weather riding, I am sure it would have failed to spark. I'll get a new one on Monday (18 inches of snow yesterday so no riding soon).
Anyway just FYI for everyone.

Be sure you get the 2004 wire. It is better and more weatherproof than the 2003.

BTW, I also noticed the temp sensor wire is chaffed a little bit where it routes over the rocker cover. Boy that motor really makes the vibrations!
Thanks for the '04 recommend.

Got the replacement sparkplug wire for the front cylinder. It is now a shorter length with an angled coil boot and ribbed plug boot.
Easy install after removing airbox and ram intake.
FYI
