I was just wondering if anyone has tried that free spirits steering neck bearings. Trying to figure out if the additional 2 degree rake would be better than a stabilizer. I first got the city 9, noticed a little tweaks and twitching then after tire wear i'm guessing it went away. Put on the new skins (tires) the shimmy's have returned. I only notice it on hard and fast *%$ accelerations. Don't know if tire wear is enough for a 2 degree rake, but the ghost in the machine is driving me nuts, then to try and do it on a budget, the bearings are about 200 cheaper than a dampner, but harder to install. The DAMBED if you do, dont thing. HELP I need the smooth as glass ride.

I don't have the Free Spirits kit so I cannot answer your direct question.
Is your suspension set up decently, if the rear is squatting to much when accelerating hard, the front end will get light and could cause the shimmy you are experiencing. For an experiment you could slide the fork tubes down to lengthen the front end, slide them to the first line, which equals 10mm above the triple clamp, standard height is 13mm, this will give you more trail, see if it cures the problem, it won't cost you anything but the time to do it.

Hmmm.
The additional rake would considerably slow your steering & neuter the handling.

Why move the forks when you have front preload adjusters?

If you get your suspension settings right, your XB will feel right. And that is free.

--First verify your tire pressure.
--Second verify your suspension settings, specifically front a rear preload.
--If the preload is set for your weight there shouldn't be a 'shimmy.'
--If the 'shimmy' is still there try reducing your rear preload 1 or 2 clicks, this will increase stability & reduce steering sensitivity.

Also...make sure the steering head bearings are properly tight.
That will help a great deal.

I snugged up my XB bearings, made a big difference.
