Is anyone using the top speed pulley kit on their XB? I was just wondering how much top end you gain and how much acceleration you lose.

As a companion to the above question, has anyone used the "power" pulley kit? I don't think I've ever owned a bike that I didn't take a tooth off the front, or add 3 to the back or both.

I believe its 10% extra top speed and 10% less accelleration.

I see youre on a 9 so a simpler and cheaper option would be to fit the primary chain and sprockets from a 12, this gives the same 10% but with standard pulleys.

rice: like stot sez, change the front primary drive sprocket, and install a xb12 chain. this setup is less than $200. this method of re-gearing will not change the speedometer calibration. good luck, dean

I don't do to much over 80MPH, so if I wanted to gear my 03 XB lower for more torque, what would I need to do? Add a tooth or two to the front and reduce the final drive by a couple?

Race ECM and Drummer are the only modifications.

nope, quite the opposite.... you drop teeth on the front, and add them to the rear... my sv has a 6th gear max out of 152 at redline, but you drop a tooth in the front, add two the rear(from 15/45 to 14/47), and that top speed drop to somewhere around 130.. however... it now tries to come up in 3rd, and you only use 1st to wheelie(2nd gear is for easy launches now, believe it or not.).... anyways, i saw someone makes a kit, but it was VERY pricey....and it might mess up your speedo... didn't on my sv, but i have a front wheel speedo sensor. mine cost 15 bucks for the front sprocket, 35 for the rear, and 200 for a really good chain(smaller size chain... much lighter)... whereas the kit i saw for the xb ( http://www.britnett.net/trojanhorse/listings/311.html ) was like 535 lbs sterling.. at a exchange rate of 1.4:1, that comes out to about 750 bucks.. a bit expensive if you ask me... whereas you could probably take your rear sprocket to a REPUTABLE machine shop, and have them make you one out of billet, with 4 more teeth, and it would be about what you want(from my eyeball of the part and an idea of the top end of an xb...)and it would cost you less than 100 bucks us.
