The front wheel doesn't want to stay down. It's amazing how easy it is to get the front wheel up on this bike.

After picking up the XB9 a few weeks ago from chrisrogers3 I started taking the bike apart and going over everything to make sure all was good.

The list of things I've done;
Cleaned every nook and cranny on the bike to check for leaks.
Repaired front brake light switch.
Repaired chaffed wire on cylinder temp sensor.
Checked Torque on many critical bolts.
Removed wheels and checked wheel bearings.
Flushed brake system.
Changed engine and primary fluids with synthetic.
ECMspy check up and TPS/AFV reset.
Rewiring under front fairing to install Centech fuse box and deutsch connectors.
Uly right side control roup with heated grip switch to control poly heaters.
New Iridium spark plugs.
Front forks got new shim stacks, springs and seals by Traxxion Dynamics.
New Penske rear shock.
New Madstad 16" windscreen system.
Superbrite LED turn signal bulbs and license plate bulb.
New Buell touring seat.

The things I still need to do;
Drill and safety wire oil drain plugs.
Check static sag on suspension and set preload.
Replace plug wires due to chaffing. (waiting for parts)
Sand and repaint muffler.
Reroute breather tubes and install catch can.
Replace dash bulbs with LED's and create custom face plate.
Install XBlights tail light. (waiting for parts)
Ride some really twisty roads to break in the new tires because chicken strips are a no-no.

I took off for a short shake down ride and after turning onto the main rode I hit second gear at about 6k and jumped into the throttle and was pleasantly surprised when the front wheel came up about 2 feet. After tapping the rear brake to bring the front wheel down and giggling like a young kid I remembered why I love the Buell V-twin. I had also forgotten how many people will slow down and ride beside you trying to figure out what kind of bike it is. After 40 miles I hooked up the laptop and all looks good in ECMspy and she's running like a fine tuned wildcat on steroids so I couldn't be happier. I hope to ride up to the Harley dealer in the morning to get a new state inspection so I will be totally legal. The one thing I did notice is the rear brake is really crappy so I need to take another look at the pads and check for air in the system.

The best news is the forecast for this weekend is low 70's and sunny skies so mountains here I come.

PS: If anybody in the central VA area needs help with a TPS/AVF reset I will be happy to help.

How did you go about fixing the front brake switch? Mine has been shot for a while now.

Just take it apart and clean the contacts with a piece of fine sandpaper. Its real easy. I put electric silicone on it when I was done to help ward off the weather.

For the front brake light switch I did what Rpm4x4 said. I used a utility knife to gently pop the two halves of the switch apart and used a piece of sandpaper to clean the contacts. I have ordered a new switch as a backup.

I'll try to get pics loaded this afternoon. The battery cover on my old HP digital camera cracked and fell off yesterday so I need to see if I can epoxy it back together.

After riding for about 200 miles I can't say enough good things about the Madstad windscreen system. I'm getting totally clean air around my helmet at up to 75mph.
