Dyna, i agree. Your from Wisconsin and i`m from NY and the infomation we`ve heard seems almost the same.

All this talk against water cooled Buells because it goes against Mr Buells ideas and pricipals or whatever? If i recall wasn`t the first Buell water cooled?

Whats not to like in the new v-rod motor, more power (120 rwhp), higher rpm`s, quieter running, less vibration, cleaner emissions, and much greater potential for modications.

What Buell owner wouldn`t want this from their bike? Your all talking like the v-rod motor was designed last week, this motor has been running in one form or another for 10 years. Its hardly a brand new design in the age where Jap companies do complete redesigns of their sportbike engines every 2 years.

I think you are all afraid of change. The current Buell XB rolling frame is such an incredible bike. The only thing holding it back is the outdated engine.

Just think how much fun it would be to ride your Buell with the motor from the Aprilia tuono. Now if i could only find a wrecked Tuono my XB9S would be a very willing donor!!!

Perhaps the most dramatic case was Osoborne Computer, where news of a new model killed sales of the old one, leading the company into bankruptcy.

Which is exactly why anony likes to attempt to shoot down threads such as this.

I think you are all afraid of change.
Looks that way.

Nothing wrong at all with folks dreaming a little, mix it in with a little bit of what we have seen with our own eyes, toss in a touch of rumors that have been heard, mix well & bake at 115 posts for 3 days & enjoy.

If a thread such as this could actually lead a company into bankruptcy, then obviously that company had problems to begin with. Either poor sales, bad product, saturated market, CEO ripping the company off blind, etc etc.

on the whole heat kills issue, cannot we simply have a larger or several oil coolers? I have seen some very large ones on cruisers etc. The xb oil cooler is tiny, no?

Also, doesnt cooling fin design enter into it.

Lastly, do the cooling fans like we have on the XB really have to be so damn noisy. Wouldn't a nice steady breeze be just as effective??

Forgive me as it is clear I am no engineer!!

Because then it would be a smidge more believeable. And yeah you do "Mr.it will void your warranty guy."You told us names in specific to who to call at BUELL customer service to speak to.Its not that I don't think BUELL will ever be water cooled,I just don't think as soon as you do.I see air cooled for a few years yet.

I agree with Dana. When you only have two posts on the entire board and those posts are claiming that Buell will soon be releasing a new liquid cooled superbike; advising that we put off the purchase of an XB12 to instead wait for the new superbike... I hafta call "bullshit." And it is certainly reasonable to request definition of the source of such claims. In fact, I would consider it mandatory.

Blake all I want to do is call ask some stupid questions and work my way into the.......Hey I heard blah blah and blah have you guys heard anything about it.Then just sit back and listen to what they have to say.I have never heard of a dealer trying to sell you something they don't have yet or to the public for that matter. But they will sell you whats on the floor, the latest and greatest XB9S,XB9R,XB12S,XB12R or a BLAST.They survive by selling whats on the floor. It doesn't matter if you know them for 5yrs or 20yrs.I know my dealer pretty good and is close friends to Court and Erik for that matter and they would never let the cat out of the bag.And Keith at Uke's would probably know what Erik and company might have brewing before most or many.

Blake my BS meter went off in the beginning. I was speculating on it happening but I certainly didn't think that it would be the Revo itself nor would it be this soon after the XB's got released. I think maybe 4-5 years down the road on a Watercooled version and I think it would possibly follow the same route as the XB's, pop out a 9 for being legal in the racing circuits then go bigger. But get the product out there first.

I know I know what your gonna say your stuck on the 2008 thing but I am.The X1 went 4 yrs and I think the 12 will do the same. They introduced the XB9 SERIES in 2002 as a early release 2003.So I think anything new maybe 2007 as a 2008 model.

Along these same lines of improving the XB, why wouldn't a six speed trans on the current 12 be a good idea. Since it has such grunt but a low RPM top end, wouldn't the extra ratio give us a bit more top end and overall responsiveness.

As much as my XB trans has improved of late, I still see the trans as something Buell should be able to improve quite readily.

Am I naive on this or what??

BTW- I really like the whole subject of improving the breed so to speak.

It's not only a good idea but offering a sport bike for $11k with a limited top speed without 6 gears is criminal.

How do you feel about an Aprilia Mille R for $14,000?

I find the price point "elasticity of demand" concept quite fascinating for motorcycles.

I have one group of friends who swear by "cheap, used and it's only transportation". Another 4 pals popped for the early (as in $35K) MV Agusta F4's swearing that technical innovation has no price.

What do you expect, for instance, in a motorcycle at the $10,000 price point and what features are you willing to pay more for and what price?

For me?...I'd pop $1,000 for a GPS system with a good display. That's the kid of geeky stuff I go for. Henrik, on the other hand, would be a candiate for an Ohlin rear shock for $900.

Just curious.

Bads1,
After all this bashing i`ve taken for just passing on info that people from my DEALER told me
you want me to give you the name? So what you can sit around and call and email him 50 times a day and tell him how wrong he is? No thanks.

Truth is if people like you didn`t attack what i was saying i would have gladly put you in contact with them and you could speak to them directly.

I even went back to the Dealer yesterday to confirm what they had told me. And they have alot for info regarding this subject and a price reduction of all current Buell models. NONE of which i`d like to share with this board.

I never even posted on this board before, someone copied my message and posted it.So believe what you`d like!}

John,
Hang around and take it easy and ignore those that dump on you. Until information is official then it is speculation. And if it is leaked early then someone somewhere broke a non-disclosure agreement, or someone somewhere saw something "accidentally" displayed in semi-public view. I'm about 90% certain I saw an early mule of the V-Rod running around town here over a year or more before it was officially announced. But when I told people I saw a Harley with a radiator I was told to either shut up or prove it. That's life and the nature of human response.

In your profile you list NYC, have you met any of the local folks on the site here who live there?

Anyway, have a good year, enjoy your bikes, and work safe. If you stick around the site then great, and if not then that's okay too. Your choice.

John, read what i wrote again. Let the naysayers disagree & the truth will all come out eventually. Then come back & say "told ya so!!".

You will always have the few who will scream at you, call you liar...in a roundabout way, etc etc. Dont let them get to you, Lord knows I dont.
You are confident in what you have heard & I am confident in what I have seen. I sure as hell wouldnt be handing out names & numbers either, especially considering the attitude that is so pervasive here at times.

I got the same thing last year when I said the 12 would be coming out. Plenty of new XB9 owners refused to accept the possbility that their beloved company could possibly come out with something bigger & better than their bike after only 1 year.

The amazing part to me is if it came from a dealer in the New York City area....I'd be game for beleiving a tale of a 150RWHP before I'd buy into "credible information" from a NYC dealer.

Fact is, they are GOOD Harley-Dealers. Most have pretty much abandoned Buell and Stamford (one of the most afflunet communities in the USA) just dropped the Buell line and somewhat uncermoniously.

The other component is that it is downright dishonest, when trusted, to violate that trust. NYC struggles with information...witness the FDNY fellow who has another in critical condition at the moment after trying to kill him with a chair and it was hours before the police received the report he'd "fallen down the stairs".

Hopefuly, yoiur source is better.

What is hard for me to believe is that anyone with such information would be stupid/dishonest/silly/untrustfull(take your pick here) to share that information with others not directly involved in the business.
Is it THAT hard to keep one's mouth shut?
Do they do it to SHOW that they are "in the know"?

Call it what you like...Fact is if we all sat around waiting for rumors to become true (regardless of Manufacturer) we would be reading and not riding.

Buy what you want today and sell it for what you want tomorrow. At least that way, in the event tomorrow never comes you will have had some fun. Think how I would have felt if I keep waiting for the well rumored (Motorcylist and other Mags) Honda CBRXX1200.

There are a lot of us here (i.e. me) that could not care less what their bike can do above 110 mph. I want a good street bike, and performance above 100 mph has nothing to do with being a good street bike.

Heck, I would not even care about it on a track bike, if I did a track day I would be much more interested in 80mph sweepers then 140 mph straights.

I am much more interested in handling first, and 0-80 performance second. Owning a bike optimized around speeds more then twice the speed limit just makes me look like a fool (IMHO).

;) and a six speed is just a kludge thrown together by motorcycle makers incapable of producing a decently wide powerband ;)

I don't get why a police officer would keep from saying who his dealer is. Coppers are in the business of TRUTH. If there's a mere suggestion or hint of an untruth wrt Buell info and the big guns here such as Blake Court or Anony support such suggestions then isn't it the responsibility of a police officer to share his information in an effort to establish the truth. Obviously John McDonagh is telling the truth he's a policeman. So how hard is it to track down a Buell dealer in NYC? I'd ring 'em all Dana but it's expensive from England
