I am in desperate need of another tire on the rear of my XB9R. I bought the bike with Continental attacks on it. The front is still good.
What do you guys think about buying race take-off tires as a replacement?

Its Christmas and Santa already brought me the bike...

I would stay away from them unless you are doing your first track day.
You have no idea how many heat cycles they have been thru.... there is a reason they got taken off....

Racers do a couple of laps and replace the tires and resell them to buddies.

My buddy buys them that way.

If you look at the wear indicator, there's still a lot of meat left, just not good enough for competition.

I'm considering getting hooked up to that, 5,000k to a set can get pretty expensive.

As long as you dont push the bike to its limits alot, and arent planning on any trackdays, then go for it! Make sure they arent something like a Pilot Race tire. Stuff more along the lines of Pilot Powers would be good. Those DOT race tires can be a bitch to warm up.

Haven't met with the guy yet, but he says he has super corsa's, avon's, mich- m2's.

Thanks for the replies. Im going for it. $90 for a set.
(Of course It would be helpful if they were free, but dont see to many people willing to do that. My back is getting to the critical point.)

Go there and check them out. Look them over real well. My guy is a friend of mine, so it makes it easier. They look scary and all, but they will treat you well. Just be careful when you put them on. They will be a little squirrely at first, but they'll straighten up.
