'04 all the way. Nil problems, only fixes. The only thing I wish I had was the extra fuel of the new models and front forks with the ability to buy the cheap Buell Suspension Upgrade.

With all the exchangeable parts, I don't think any year is bad.

I have a totaled 07 with 600 miles I bought from a friend for the insurance buy back cost. It was totaled due to frame damage. I was planning on transferring the engine, swingarm and suspension with trees to my 04. Then sell the 07 to a salvage company. I don't want to buy a frame and all the numerous little parts to repair the 07. What are your thoughts?

why don't you just use your 04 frame?

Then part out the rest of the 04 on Ebay or here.

Mainly time. Transferring an engine while mounted on the swingarm appears to be an easy project. I think I'm even switching the wheels and tires. Nor do I want to invest the time to disassembly, advertise, package and ship parts.

I hear that, the older we get, the less time we have and that would be alot of work to part it out plus do bike work.

If you decide to let go any of your 04 parts, holler. Although if I were you, I'd hang on to as many as I could. My bedroom is turning into "Erik's Parts Bin".
