My 9r seems to be forming a bit of an oil leak. The thing is I can't really pin down where its coming from. The swingarm front is always messy and sticky, but there isn't a trail as to where it's coming from. Could my swingarm be leaking, or maybe is the cooling fan blowing it away from the motor and onto the swinger? The rear shock doesn't seem to be messy though.

And on a side note, my bike's got an aftermarket dip stick,, could someone measure theirs for me and tell me how far down it is to full and add?

Thanks

It is a Harley, and may just be marking it's territory.

Look at the base gasket on the rear cylinder. Also, look at the gasket where the starter goes through the back of the primary case.

check the oil more often. I had an old chevy suburban from 72 and it still had the original motor with 315000 miles. It leaked oil like a thing with alot of holes . I just added oil when I filled gas. I believe htere is a thread about excessive oil consumption in the knowledge vault that may apply here.

I'd start with the "aftermarket" dipstick and go back to a stock one, then see what happens. It only takes a drop or two of oil and it gets smeared across everything, looks like a mess and gives the illusion you've got a major leak.

Check the rear rocker cover. Sportys were always famous for it. May be where.
