I’m looking at a D&D or a Drummer pipe to replace my stock. I want a deep, loud, rumble with performance and health for my '08 XB12S. Is it bad for my bike if I go aftermarket on my muffler and air filter(K&N)? Will it make that much of a difference in increasing torque/hp? Where can i get them cheap? So many questions....call it excitement!

I've had both. The Drummer is a much better pipe through the whole powerband. The D&D though is the mid range monster. Problem is I don't think your stock ECM will be able to adjust to the D&D. Maybe Al can chime in and shed some light on that one.

We'll be doing a bunch of testing on the dyno on the 08's in May. But if the 08 ECM behaves as the 07 and before did, the D&D is best run on a remap, more so than a drummer. The D&D fueling curve is quite a bit different than the stocker, and it doesn't yield a particularly stable AFV over the entire cruise range. We'll have maps and test data soon.

Great! Well I'll just wait till May's '08 dyno tests are complete. I don't want any regrets. Will you make these results available to BadWeb? Thanks Al

I have had both. Original drummer and the D&D. Sound wise, I liked the D&D. But that Drummer was nice and mellow sounding and nice and smooth power delivery.

I'm running a Micron now and am having nothing but problems with it. If I can't get it straightened out, I'm going back to the Drummer.

Just my 2 cents.

Rich

Go with the Micron, I picked one up from American sportbike a couple months ago along with a key,new map and filter for my 07 12R and have not had a problem at all. If you like to go fast on the curvies then Micron is the way to go. What ever you decide get the whole package (key, tune filter).

I get nothing but compliments on the sound of the D&D on my XB12 ... and it runs like a rocket with a good tune ...

Evil Twin,

I would like to talk to you about your Micron. I am having issues as well. I have had my micron for ~7 months now and it has cost me a boat load of cash. Various reasons of course, i.e. broken exhaust studs. Now, i am experiencing problems with the pipes slipping apart. Primarily at the canister. Anyway, I won't hijack this thread anymore than I have, but shoot me a line if you want to compare issues. Im up in the air on what to do.

+1 on Drummer. Been running mine since last summer on my 07 12R and love it. Sound is great and obviously since it's a modified stock muffler, fit is perfect. Also, Kevin at KD Fab is a great person to deal with and deserves the support. He's always willing to talk or email even when you're not buying anything. I've purchased a couple other things from him now as well (catch can, points cover) and both of those products are top notch. Most of the people I ride with run Drummer and all are happy.

I have a D&D on my bike and like it. What a mid range monster! The sound is a little high pitched(for me), and is loud at any RPM, Toona has a special ops and it has the perfect sound(some more food for thought). All in all my D&D is a great pipe.

D&D sounds Like a lot larger bike, I get odd looks from Harley guys all the time. as far as your ecm I unplugged the battery for 20 min. and after about 100 miles I think it "learned"

I love the way my d&d pipe sounds on my xb9 I used it with both stock and race ecu no issues really though I think it likes the race one allot more. I have had a number of harley dudes comment on the sound of my bike in a positive way.
