I'd like to do the airbox delete mod, but I have no idea where to get a suitable piece of plastic to put over the air filter (I don't really think I have any way to cut a thick enough piece of metal suitably). Any suggestions? I'm gonna try Home Depot tomorrow, but any experiences would be great...

Bill, just cut the top part of the box out.
Or just swiss cheeze the air box top.

cut up your existing airbox to whatever shape you want....i'll post up some pics of mine if i get a chance. i used a jigsaw and completely removed the sides of the top cover only leaving a strip from front to back and the bottom edge so it could still be secured down with the clips to the lower plate.

I used a 2" hole saw and went to town on the stock inner cover. It's not as if it's visible, unless of course you have translucent plastic .

Yes Ben, something exactly like that, except that doesn't cost $70 for one stupid piece of material.

Dave - I thought about just cutting the top off, but on the 03's it's bubbled up to almost meet the bottom of the outer airbox cover...so there's really no way to get any type of fastener on top of it to hold it down over the filter.

Thanks for the mcmaster link! I'm trying to avoid swiss cheesing the stock cover, since I now have the translucent blues as of yesterday...

Lexan is a Brand name of polycarbonate made by GE, your thinking of plexi-glass which is the weak stuff... Fyi... The cool thing is i think that Either material can be heat formed and welded together... Ahh the possibilities...

someone here cut up the stock one with a dremel and cut out the pegasus logo. that would look cool with the translucent cover. someone should remember who it was, but i don't.

I just saw that pic Badlions... And I just picked up a sheet of Lexan from Home Depot. About to go downstairs now and start playing. I've got my own Pegasus idea ;) I just hope this thing cuts well with a Dremel!
