Does anyone use Screaming Eagle Syn-3 for the engine transmission, and Chaincase? I'm fast approaching the 5000 mile mark and I will need to be doing an oil change for sure. Any info would be great. P.s. I know I could have did a search and see what opinions are but I thought I would ask anyways.

Thanks,

Steve

thats stuff is pricey! i'm sure some use it and love it though.
Personally, im a Mobil 1 fan. its on sale for 9 bucks a quart at cycle gear.
(full synthetic)

http://www.cyclegear.com/spgm.cfm?L1=&L2=&L3=&L4=& item=TUC_53-3100&tier2=271

Mobil 1 is all i run in everything i have, my bike, my diesel and my 4 banger.

and i always use Wix filters.
like 5 bucks at Oreilleys.

(side note, my XB9S uses the same oil filters that most Scions use!! hahaha)

and i use the stock H/D Formula +1 in the primary (trans)

but everyone has there personal picks.

I have used it. I don't think it's bad stuff. My only complaint was that it appeared to have a higher incidence of vaporization. Mine doesn't use much oil, but I think I could shrink the usage even further.

I am switching to Amsoil full synthetic and still using the Formula+ in the transfer case.

In testing, it appeared to be less prone to vaporization.

I did use the Syn3 in the beginning but then the price went up and I found Mobil 1 on sale and started using that. My bike is noticeably quieter with the Mobil 1.

15 bucks a quart?! IMO there are much better oils out there for less.

The local circle track speed shop has Amsoil 20w-50 for $ 8.00 a quart, which is pretty good, and I switched to a Purolator Pure One filter ( blue painted housing ) for under $ 5.00.
The primary on the '06 has Formula + in it.
I changed the engine oil just before the last track day, and the Screaming Eagle wasn't dark or broken down from a track day at Barber and about a 1000 street miles.

AMS oil 20w-50 MCV in both holes works for me. Their wear scar numbers can't be beat and the oil works for extreme heat applications.

Amsoil is what I have in the bike now, but I was considering going over to formula+ in the primary next time.

Not $15.00 a quart.

I've used Amsoil, Purple Power, Mobil and others in all my other machines, good stuff. But the Buell was engineered by a Harley guy, Erik Buell, I Know, Buell+Harley? Yes, he is still a Harley Engineer. So, The only fluid I use is HD Syn3 20w50 in the mill, Formula+ in the grinder. Sure it may cost a little more, but heck, what are we talking here, the price of a double cheese burger. I'd rather know for a fact that the lubricants I use are/were designed for the machines purpose. Same goes for my filters.

It is good to be true to brand but when the tests seem to show that Amsoil is half as good again with regards to wear then I am there.
