Hey yall

I want to put the Carbon airbox cover with the little air scoops on my 12S. I think it would be cool since I have the open air box and all.
I saw they were on Ebay for like $225, but now they are all gone!!
Does anyone know where else to get them?
I know American sport bike has them, but they are like over $300, and honestly I wasnt looking to spend that much on an Airbox cover.

Thanks for the help!

The difference between $300 and $225 is only $75. On eBay you never know what kind of quality you will get IF you even receive the product you purchased. I don't have any personal experience with it, but it seems that the American Sport Bike carbon seems to be very high quality. IMO it would be worth spending the extra $75 and stay far away from eBay. I know people on some of the Buell forums have gotten carbon off of eBay and it has been junk. Others may have had a different experience with the eBay carbon, but it is a gamble.

I have the cold air induction cover that I bought from a fellow Bad Brother. I love it. It came from American. What's cool is that the production date is labeled on the inside. I also got the front fender and the wind screen.

+1 on American's carbon. I bought their under seat panel for my X1 and the guy told me they also did all the carbon for
Buells carbon extreme bikes and could color match it to my bike (for extra of course) I cannot be happier with the quality and fit. Not knocking the bay's stuff but with that much invested, $75 would well be worth the peace of mind.

IMHO

You get what you pay for. I wouldn't buy CF from an unknown source. There are more fakes than reals out there. Pay the little extra and get the good stuff.

The American Sport Bike carbon is well worth the extra money.

The ebay carbon is just a carbon overlay on a heavy, thick fiberglass base. It is purely cosmetic carbon.

I'd rather spend a couple more bucks on a structural carbon part that is lightweight and infinitely more cool.

plus, unlike the ebay carbon all of the American Sport Bike carbon parts have a matching carbon weave.

The one Rob is referring to on eBay has raised scoops. The one from American Sport Bike is a different style. I have the raised scoop style and it is indeed cosmetic carbon. It is lighter then the stock cover but heavier than the pure carbon types. I painted mine so I didn't really care. If you're looking for the raised scoop type you can find one from Europe but the carbon weave is of a different pattern so unless you're going to paint it the carbon won't be a match for Buell or American Sport Bike carbon

I have the right side air scoop and oil cover shroud in carbon from ebay... They are real carbon fiber but, the fit is poor on the right side scoop and needed quite a bit of modification to even bolt on. Even now, there is still a decent gap along the frame in one area. The oil cooler fit great but, the bolt holes still had to be enlarged to fit the bolts... Another note, it also took over a month to receive my pieces... You do get what you pay for IMHO.
