Does anyone know whether or not the XBrr steering damper will fit on a XB12Scg without interfering with the fender at full compression of the suspension. The ad in the last Fuell is unclear and, the local dealer has no returns on "race" items.

I believe the problem with installing a XBRR damper on a XB12Sg lies more with the fact that there is no room for it behind the fly screen. It is very difficult to even squeeze one into an XB12R.

There are several alternatives however, The Hyperpro, the LSL, and the side mounted Storz and Ohlins.

Sponsors American Sportbike, Trojan, Hals, Hillybilly and others may be able to help.

Personally, I use a side mounted Ohlins, and find it very useful, much better than the Storz.

I had to make the mounts myself.

I don't know about your bike but I had to make a spacer so that the dampener sat below my wiring harness. I was installing it right before MBIV but decided to hold off since I didn't know if I would like it and I was going to do some hard riding. I haven't gone to reinstall it yet. It's on my list of things to do.

The one problem with the XBRR dampener is the wiring harness. The XBRR doesn't have the thick harness like our production bikes so it's a very tight fit.

Here's the thread that I started....

I installed one on my Scg. The only clearance problem is with the headlights. I don't see how they could work at all with the stock lights. It just almost fit with the LSL Projectors. I'm working up a custom mount that will end up looking cleaner any how. The hardware provided was not correct and I had to Shim a little at get it to mount right. That is an issue for any bike not just the Scg. It looks good, like it belongs there.

Pictures later.

I'll have to polish the lights again.

Lightning....... did you lose any range of motion when you installed that?

It seemed when I installed mine for a second that I lost some side to side motion. Haven't installed it yet but that's what it seemed like........

I just tightened it down in the sweet spot and it's perfect.

Scott,

I have the LSL steering damper from American Sport Bike. It works great (dampers are required by the CMRA for racing) and I like the way it is protected behind the forks.

But Scott has an Scg and I read on a forum (this one I think) that the LSL damper won't work on the Scg because it hits the fender. Is this true?

I have the standard XBS so I don't know. It could be a concern though.
