Not trading in the superglide after the news of the new Buell. (not to rub it in) but I am sure within the next year I would be able to pick up a low mileage xb for less than I would loose on the trade.

A Superglide for a Buell? That's a bit like trading a circular saw for a hammer drill... very different tools for very different tasks.

I was gonna trade for the Ulysses but now will wait till spring and look for a good deal on a lightning long or a SuperTT.
Harley for touring with the wife
Buell for the twisties.

You would have enjoyed the guy who gave the moving account of having ridden an FLH for years, took a ride on a Ulysses.

He talked about how the Ulysses actually delivered all that he'd wanted from the FLH in terms of allowing him to ride carefree and comfortably for long days.

See the story here. I have an audio file as well, but haven't reviewed it yet.

Very convincing.

dont forget that the side cases on the uly will carry more than the FLHT ;) And flat leave it standing still in the corners... and owns the dirt... No wonder I sell the ULY 2 to 1 over the Electra

My point is that I can have the superglide now for two up rides (Although she found the Ulysses comfy she is still more comfortable on the superglide and it was hard for her to climb on the Ulysses)

Also my dream Buell is an XB12S or R. I was gonna get the Ulysses as a comprimise motorcycle. (Not that is is inferior in any way, but by having two bikes I would rather have a focused sport bike as a second)

I am in a similar position as you Boxjoint. I have a Road King for two up riding and touring and had a X1 (and a Bourget) for hot rodding around. I decided to get a ULY as it replaces the X1 but also allows for 1 up touring. I have ridden it from WI to Orlando and also from Orl. to Myrtle Beach Bike Week. Both were great trips. In addition I find myself using it instead of the RK for local 2 up rides. My wife likes it just as much as the RK but for longer trips wants the better wind protection of the RK.

I also hope to make it to March Badness and Homecoming in the future so the ULY will come in handy.

Boxjoint-If you can have both go for it. As one of our forfathers alegedly said-You can never have too much money, too much knowledge or too many motorcycles. That may have been B. Franklin. I like my Uly alot but I also liked my 01 GoldWing alot, just not able to have both. Now I have my SO's cg and my Uly. Good mix in my opinion.

"Boxjoint-If you can have both go for it."

Yep. Best of both worlds. I had a ZRX1200 before the HD (bought prior to the new wife) and with her riding with me the ZRX was not the ideal setup.

The way I look at it is like this:

I could have gotten the loan for a RK but if the prices do drop a bit on XB's (I fully expect them to especially the R version) I will have the superglide AND my dream Buell for 2-3 grand more than I would have spent on one bike.

I am a sport rider/ sport-tourer by nature. I miss having a sport bike but do enjoy tinkering and fabing parts for the superglide and that is a fun bike in it's own right. The superglide with the Sundowner seat and a few mods I did tours very very well. Also, I don't wick it up with the wife on the back as I would riding solo.

Looks like I will be doing some OT at work this year. If I can find an XB at the dealer for around 7-8g's I want to be able to hop on it.
