What is it with these bikes snapping off the header studs off?!? I have had 3 do it now, two in back, one in front since I've had the bike. It's a '04.

Is this a manufacturing defect or what? Getting the back ones out is such a pain in the **s!! It really sucks especially when you ride a daily commute.

Anyone else have that problem?

It's in the mounting of the muffler.

I agree...

Everything on the exhaust system needs to be loosened... Slowly tighten the header nuts... front to back, etc... If there's something not aligned here, you will see it at the header. Once they are snug, muffler hanger hdw, then the muffler/header bracket.

If any part of the exhaust system is not aligned, you will encounter it while tightening...

I've always done it this way. Have never broken anything. If someone else has a better way... I'm no expert... I can still learn...

The repairs have been done by the local shop, so I don't know what to think anymore. The first one was within the first 6 months of me buying the bike and I hadn't even made any changes yet. oh well... gonna have to plan another trip to the shop to fix the rear header mount stud.
