SO after my crash, and then a few weeks thinking I might be headed towards an '07 Street Bob; I slapped myself and bought an '06 leftover XB12SS. Sunset Orange. Pretty.
I brought it home today and started doing stuff...
Removed about four square yards of plastics bits, reflectors, guards, and passenger pegs. Mounted a Rizoma left side mirror, rizoma indicators...
Put my RACE ecm and race filter on. And took of the stock exhaust and gave my race one a fresh coat of paint so I can throw it on tomorrow just in time for my TPS reset at 10am.
There was a few things that threatened to spoil my otherwise sweet day; like the fact that two of those damn "star" bolts that hold on various plastic pieces got stripped as I was trying to remove them with the wimpy "L" shaped wrench thats included with the bike.
Has anyone else had this problem? It was amazing how absolutely quick they stripped. I ended up snapping one of them on the airbox cover. And the one holding the chin spoiler on heated up so much when I was drilling it that I just pulled the plastic thing off it.
Anyway... ease up on the torque specs at the factory gents!

The airbox cover uses Torx screws, i usually just use a flathead of the same size and it works fine.
Good luck with her, post some pics : )

The Torx is a size 27. A 25 does fork for the plastic if you are judicious with force. A good auto parts dealer will have the bits. If you can, get the sockets.
