I was on Al's site the other day and saw that he had a new billet aluminum front sprocket cover and it got my gears turning. I was just thinking of making one out of stainless sheet metal but then I got this hair brained idea. Before
After the trip to Home Depot
Its hard to tell from the Pics but I got a 5 3/8 dia circular saw blade to use as the cover. Im not sure how I feel about it yet, I kinda like it and kinda think it might be cheesy at the saw time. not to sure. what do you all think and dont hold back. worse case im out 10 bucks for the blade. |

At least it would be rotating in a more leg friendly direction. |

I had it the more unfriendly way at first and the lettering looked really bad and I also thought about it coming off. If I keep it I will use a ton of red locktite. |

What's not to love! Less plastic, more metal and something dangerous spinning inside. Looks great!! |

What is it with Harley guys and sharp, dangerous objects? I saw a chopper yesterday that had an air cleaner made from billet that came to a razor sharp point and was pointing straight up. The seat was so low on this bike, that even in a quick stop, let alone a collision, you would probably be impaled! I’m amazed they are able to get insurance on a bike like that? |

Thanx all for the positive feedback. I still need to find or make some shoulder bolts to keep the sprocket nut lock tight. Glitch- I have my fingers crossed, March is goin to be a tuff month but I think I will be able to get away for the weekend. |

I'd like to see the sawblade polished up, and maybe run it without the plastic cover...? 10 points for being original! I bet if you made a bunch of them as kits, you could sell it on ebay and make a few bucks. |

I plan on cleaning it up a bit and will most likely hit it with a clear coat so it wont rust. I will give it a shot with out the cover and see how that looks too. I thought about chrome but I you can see where all the carbide tips are brazed on and I don't think I wont to lose that. |

I still need to road test it and see if it makes the same noise my table saw makes at speed.. |

I like it too. It's subtle sitting behind the cover like that but looks mean as hell. |

I think it looks kinda ghetto. Like my screen over the chin mount hole. I ended up taking mine off along with the skateboard wheel sliders. |

Tq_'s on "The Cutting Edge" hahaha, couldn't resist. Looks good behind the cover, just enough "mean-ness" peaking out to say "Don't mess with me" BTW, on a side note, I was watching the Travel Channel over Christmas and the show Made in America did a feature/story on E-One (Tq_'s employer). I was looking for your mug in the background, but figured it was filmed before you got there. P.S. You will have a "present" coming your way soon.... |

Toona, I will have to give you my new address, I have a "present" for you that I have been meaning to get to the fed-ex guy for like 3 months now. I think that show was filmed before i started working but I saw the truck that was built for the show the other day, it had the "made in america" logo on the door. I will give you a call tomorow. Are you planing to go to March-Badness? |

Tq, call after 12 noon, guessing you still have my cell number. MB IV?, hmmm, been reading the thread about it, kinda a toss up to go to Daytona Bike week and all the festvities that happen there or MBIV. MB would be closer, less time away, but it would be one or the other, not both. Rasmonis from the DC storm front thread is going, as well as a bunch of NEBO guys, could be fun! As usual, I can't make it to Homecoming (same w/e as a show) sooooo, I just might, ya just never know. BTW, your "present" is going to be shipped to your work, IF ONLY I COULD BE A FLY ON THE WALL..... Happy New Year... Side note, Motorcycle Mike sold his bobber to a guy in Montclair, NJ. |

"Or jeans while knee dragging, right?" Ouch! Burn, sizzle, sizzle. I ground up a pair of cargo pants yesterday. Just the left leg. Now I will have to make me some redneck shorts out of them. One of these days I will get some leathers. (Message edited by barker on December 31, 2006) |

Am I the only one to notice this? Dude - ya installed the blade BACKWARDS! You're never gonna get a clean cut with it in there that way! Also: If you use a RIP blade your bike will be faster than if you use a 'general purpose' or crosscut blade. AL |
