Honest to God, if the come out with a City X 12, they'll be laughed out of the show in Milan. IMHO anything based on the XB platform wouldn't be considered a Motard. Just too bulky. We'll see. But I'd be very disappointed if they just basically shoved in a different engine and renamed the bike. | ||

I usually avoid these threads however I'll join in with my SWAG. Std frame Revised swingarm with adjusters (see XBRR) Uly'ish suspension narrower rear wheel 160(expands tire choices) Revised tail section OR All new blast that can be turned into a single cyl track monster. Thats my $.02 First cup of coffee monday morning I just wrote a SQL script from hell guess. | ||

well-meaning and good-hearted enthusiasts have lost their jobs "over the internet" at both Buell and MoCo, much less the ones that leak. That would be even quicker separation. It's a hellaciously strict policy with almost zero tolerance regardless of intent, but in many ways understandable due to their shareholder interests and liability/risk aversion stance. | ||

If that is it... um.. boy, that is disappointing (IF in fact, they are tryin to market it as a motard). My vision of a Buell motard would involve the blast motor (with maybe some go fast bits), and a lightweight motard frame with a high stance. | ||

Call me crazy, but I like the new bike. I find it funny that everyone seems so disappointed - it's not like Ducati hasn't been practicing the same sort of thing with all the many variations of Monsters over the years. Or H-D itself making seemingly 1000's of versions of the same bike (I can't tell the difference between a lot of them). I honestly think this new bike has the potential to be the 'best' bike Buell makes. XB handling w/a bit more suspension travel will make it devastating on the imperfect back roads I frequent and a demon around town. Okay, it's not a real 'motard' and it ain't the water-cooled hyperbike so many have been clamoring for, but it is still going to be a neat product. | ||

OK... how about something.... NEW???? 6th gear would impress me a lot more than these lackluster offerings. A 1203 City X and a nubbed Uly are hardly "new". Not that I'm knocking it, but I mean, come on now. | ||

I can see it filling a slot for a slightly lower Uly or a taller CityX. Now if you are vertically challenged you have a middle sized choice, larger than the CityX, smaller than the Uly. It's not radical, but it does give a choice. The problem is that now there is yet another nuance not another model. Dealers are already loathe to carry the models available. I would be surprised if it makes it to the floor only at the cost of another model. Seems that most places only put three or four on the floor. The rest get relegated to a dark corner in the back. What are the chances that you would see: Blast XB9R XB12R XB12S XB12SS XB12Scg XB9S XB9SX XB12X and the XB12STT on the showroom floor at the same time in any other dealership other than Dave Stueve's? And we aren't even talking about different colors. |
