Ok so I was adjusting my clutch and upon re-installation of the clutch inspection cover one of the screws just kept turning which means the threads are SRTIPPED!! I didnt use any air or electric tools, just hand tools. So what gives, does anyone have some insight on whether Buell will replace my transmission cover?

Did you tighten and torque the bolts in the appropriate order. You cannot just start at 1 o'clock and move clockwise until they are all tight. Let me know what you did.

I went in a star pattern. I've had the cover off before and havent had any probs, I'm bummed that this could happen. When I had my airbox off a few months ago, one of the screws had a metallic builup between the threads. Almost as if someone poured solder on it. I got most of it off with a wire brush, and tried another airbox screw to see if the threads wear messed up...Sure enough they were. What does an insert look like as of right now I dont want to ride the bike until I feel that one screw will creat a seal on the cover.

Helicoil could fix it. Any auto parts store should help you find the one you need. If you want to see how they work, just search for "helicoil" with Google images.

Or drill and tap to next bigger bolt, taking care not to get metal shavings in primary.

ok...Thats Bullshit. One of those things did fall out and I didnt know what it was so I saved it. So...either it came from the factory like that or the techs at the dealer put it there. I will reserve any further comments.

The manual has some pretty hefty torque specs. I use 72 in-lbs on those fasteners. If you go above 82 inch-lbs, which is the factory lowest spec., you will soon have a Helicoil headquarters!
