Hello everyone! Out of the 7 Inquiries/quotes I posted in the tri-state area only Anthony from the good people at Liberty returned a call promptly. He was actually interested to hear what I was interested in (2007 Ss Black..Mmmmmmm.....Blaacckk!) and while he has 'nt any 12s' in house at moment he invited me in for a test ride on a 'Bolt this Saturday to get a "feel for the Buell". I am so there!! Being a Service Manager for a N.Y.C Plumbing Contractor for 4 years now I have learned how valuable simple earnest communication can be with a customer. It is rewarding to both the business for word of mouth and good for the customers peace of mind that they are in good hands. I can also appreciate the time in which Anthony spent on the phone with me. As a person handling anywhere from 150 to 250 phone calls a day I know it is difficult if not almost impossible to dedicate large chunks of time to a single call.(BTW this is not a HD dealer bashing thing.Just my 2 cents.) Well down off the soapbox I come and Here's looking to that lightning slung under my backside in the near future! BTW my first of hopefully many posts on this GREAT forum !

As mutation said.....H-D's are the bread and butter of the dealerships around the country. Most sales associates are less interested in the Buells because it doesnt put the food on the table. (Anyone who works for a dealership can back that claim up) Instead of bashing dealers, maybe it would help if you just "suggest" that they have someone that specializes in buells. Not that they can do anything prompt, but every "positive" suggestion may lead to something more. I will say that I am not responding to anyone on this thread, but Mutation brought up a good point that most buyers overlook. Everyone enjoy the fall riding season and be safe!!!!!!

IT WAS ME!!!! ME, ME, ME!!

I got myself a Sunfire Yellow XB12R from these guys - they were great! I first met Ryan, then Anthony, and then all those nice "folks" at the dealer. Today I returned to Liberty to pay off the bike, and Anthony took me to see "my girl" being prepped. Man, what a shock! The first thing I noticed was how the shop was spotlessly clean and neat - amazing! I was expecting the "normal" messy, dirty, greasy shop, but it looked as clean and as organized as the lab where I work. I'm sure I saw my reflection on the floor!

These guys were also willing to deliver the bike to where I live, which is about 60 miles from the dealership. I just didn't feel comfortable riding
the beast through an area where I was completely lost without my trusted GPS!

Well, thanks to those guys that clued me on Anthony and the rest. I can't remember all your names, but I'll see you guys soon.

Paul

Sounds like maybe the "dealer issues" may really be a HD problem. If the dealer can't make any money selling them (probably really just a huge difference in profit?), why should they? Even more kudos then to the dealers who do support Buellers like Liberty.

What about the real HD money makers though... accessories? I would probably buy something every time I went in if there was stock of accessories at the dealers, and I'd stop in at more dealers as I travelled like HD people do to see what they had (I rode a long way twice to supposed Buell friendly shops to no avail before giving up on that idea). I have at least been able to get the fluids and filters when I need to, but usually it is just a 3' X 2' space on the wall with maybe traction grips, one style of T-shirt, and a couple of hats for Buell stuff; in a 3000+ square foot shop. I don't think I've seen a manual locally so thank God for DaveS I could get one. Seems like the the margins on a T-shirt ought to be roughly the same be it Buell or HD? If they'd stock a few styles in 1 each of S, M, L, and XL and I'd likely buy one for me and maybe the GF each time I was there and, thus, pay to advertise Buell instead of leaving with just the oil and thinking "dang, I wish they had something else I might want in stock, too".

I agree with you on accessories - we'd LOVE to carry more, but there frankly just isn't as large of a selection available with Buell on it.

I think this is the first year that the actual T-Shirt vendors are getting in on the Buell shirts, and I think there was a grand-total of 4 styles available, at least from the one distributor I saw the catalog for.

Vanson handles the "merchandise", but for whatever reason, the lead time, even on simple things like patches, can be upwards of 3 weeks. (Don't even ASK about the leathers. . .) It's good stuff, don't get me wrong, but, with a lead time like that, it's hard to plan your inventory needs.

It also doesn't change much from year to year, unlike H-D who has new stuff every season, plus the quarterly updates, plus the core merchandise.

It's a big circle though, because no vendors want to invest in a bunch of inventory if the dealers won't buy it, but if I can't buy it and know it will be here in time for, say, the Open House, I'm less likely to order it, so they end up sitting on their inventory, etc etc etc.

If only they'd let us make our own T-Shirts up . . . :P

Court, thanks, and I hear you! I will definitely be there, and I hope to meet you. Heard a lot about you.

Mike, maybe we can get together in the future. Are you going to the Open House?

BTW, I forgot to mention that Liberty does have a nice selection of Buell cloths - more than any I have seen. I even got a pretty cool looking t-shirt with the logo.

Paul

Bueaddicted, we are definitely going to the Open House. So far, we have two Buells and a possible Harley going. Not sure if we are going up the Parkway or over to the Turnpike. If my brother-in-law can go we will be going out towards you and then up. I'll let you know what we decide in case you want to ride with us.

I went to Liberty's Open House last year to Demo ride a Uly. Went with my wife and Daughter and bought T-shirts for the three of us. We will be back this year. Liberty has the neatest shop logo on the back of their Harley T's I've seen in a long time. Mine is my favorite shirt.
Plus, they went to the trouble of sending me discount coupons for the IMS show at the Javits Center when I asked.
They're a neat shop with a good attitude toward Buells and they put the effort in. We need more like them.

I'm trying to figure out how to attach a Palm T3 GPS to the Firebolt, but I haven't found an adapter...

The website for the SAVE THE MUSIC ride indicates they are expecting 3,000 bikes to make the ride from Ledgewood to Times Square.

That'll be quite a spectacle in New York City traffic.

Hey Bueaddicted........ try these guys out for mounting your GPS to your Firebolt

http://www.lobstermount.com

I met a bunch of these guys at the CES (Consumer Electronic Show) show in Las Vegas this year. I would have never looked at their booth but they were displaying their products on a Uly. I was talking to the guy who OWNED the bike and I believe they are out of South Carolina?? but he rides the bike to every show. I wasn't a BadWeber at the time so I didn't tell him about this site. very cool people, give them a shout and mention the CES show and your a Bueller, maybe you'll get a discount???

try getting a tankbag, like from Chicane,
this is the one I use:

http://www.chicaneusa.com/baja.htm

It fits the airbox just fine...
04 xb12s
and I slide my GPS into the map pocket, and I
can even depress the buttons right through the plastic...

It keeps it out of the weather too.

Thanks,
