Wanna know why you oil lines leak??
Wann know why you have chaffed wires??
Wanna know why you have electrical gremlins??

I take emaculate care of my bike. I have tons of pride in it and when I drop it off at the dealership look what they do..

I just got my bike back from being serviced and look at how the did my wiring..like how they re ran the wiring tie strapped it to my oil lines(not as per the manual) as an after thought. Look at the ignition wires they are pulled all to heck. I have o2 wires pulled so tight it has bent my fitting, pulls it right across the head. Head temp wires frayed all too hell,,I am so pissed.
This happened when they rotated my engine to work on it.

It is over 100 miles one way to the dealership to have what they did repaired..Thats over 400 miles by the time it is done.

IS THE DEALERSHIP RESPONSABLE FOR MY TRAVEL ie gas ???
Any help would be appreciated..I have not called them yet.I will in the mornign thats fo rsure..It will be interesting to see how this unfolds..



















































This piece broke off when it locked my handle bars up...thank god i didnt crash ...

To some this will look probaly ok..But look in the manual, However its not anywhere how the manual shows it. Also every wire from the factory is ran at a specifc place for a resaon..so it doesnt chaff...These guys just put the back however they would fit..My bike is an electrical time bomb now.

That's why NOBODY works on my bike!!

Unless it’s an expensive warranty repair (like a blown motor) I’ll just do it myself. It’s cheaper in the long run to buy a stupid part like a seal, or an O2 sensor, and fix it yourself than to take that wiring mess back to a dealer, and tell them they cased the problem, and you want new parts.

But either way… I feel your pain.

You will be glad you have documented the situation later on if you are asked for proof. I completely understand where you are coming from and seeing the way things were put back...it doesn't look right even if you didn't have the manual or understood the engineering and tight clearances our Buells have.

I am purely looking at this from a basic point of view for how wiring should be run, the materials involved (i.e. hot oil lines and wiring DON'T mix). I agree that broken parts should be replaced (hopefully by the dealer with this proof) and that you may want to fix this yourself.

Like others...I try to do as much work as I can except for major stuff that is all warranty because I don't want to pay for it (and felt I shouldn't). I have been through this twice...once with an indy shop that did excellent work and once with a dealer (not HD) that I ended up doing a bunch of details rework before I felt comfortable riding the bike.

You have an argument and evidence to back it up...especially if you have any "before" pictures.

I agree on the expensive work. The motor ultimately had new rings put in it underwarranty.

Anyways, they have treated me awesome so far. They did a crap load of service work underwarranty cost me nothing.

I am not naming names or trying to bad mouth a dealership. I just want people to think about these things when they get theyre bike back from service depts. I guess a little of venting going on here as well.

I have spoken to them since this post and they are willing to fix it to make it right. So far so good. We will see..

That is some very sloppy and care-less work. Very disconcerting , new rings already with a wing-bat like that installing them......$11,000 laid out ....I want a NEW BIKE

Looks like they were in a big hurry.
I have had to alter the routing on my bike's hoses and wiring after about 1/2 of the times it has been in the shop.

I've just accepted it as a part of the process. I usually don't leave the parking lot without a good thourough visual inspection.

Higgster, I'm absolutely with you 100%.

Even when I'm swapping a gearbox in a 15 or so year old Saab, I always always put everything back where the factory put it in the first place, even if someone in the past 15 years put it elsewhere. I even get peed off if someone has put the wrong type\style of bolt, nut or washer in the wrong place, so I spend time going through my Saab 'bucket' looking for the correct whatever to go wherever. Cable ties are great when the application dictates the use of, but never on a new vehicle unless the manufacturer used them too.

Authentic, original, unmessed. The way it should be.

Good luck with the dealer.
