1.If a dealership replaces base gaskets on a xb motor do are they required to re-hone and re ring the motor???

2.since they have rotate the engine to fix the base gaskets, it needs the muffler taken off. Are they required to replace the front muffler gasket like the manual says? How about intake seals? The intake has to come off also? are those also required to be replaced?

3.Supposedly now my clutch not shifting is because my primary COVER was brokeN???? I never had it of nor did my bike leak a drop of oil ever.???

4.Can a catchcan cause a motor base gasket to start leaking....Buell tech services hinted to my Dealership it could. I dont see how since the catch can catches/releases pressure form the head area.

5.My front motor mount has alot of travel( however it is not bottomed out.) It will when going over a bump I can here it clunk. Plus lots vibration in certain rpm ranges. Is there a "travel check" they perform to see if it is moving to much? I couldnt find one in the servie manual. They say the motor mount is good to go.

6. I had a extremely loud knock form both sides. I measure the primary chain tension on it atlest once a month COLD as per manual specs and mine has always been in perfect specs. Supposedly this is the cause of my knocking now.

7.If someone does the 10000 mile service at theyre self..What is the best way to document this thing so the dealership cant say they didnt do it And my bike breaking down is because of lack of doing the 10k myself. What is tech/customer service going to want to see to be on my side when it comes to documenting it being done??

SO FAR all of this work is covered underwarranty, except the motor mount. I am happy about that. However I am scared s@#tless about them tearing into the motor and not replacing everything required.

I know we have some buell mechanics on this board. Any help or experiences would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks

I will try to help here.
Before I do, remember I am not a tech.
1. No
2. If I was doing it I would replace all gaskets and seals that are taken apart.
3. ?
4. I don't see how
5. I thought a dealer had already said it was bad?
6. check the front sprocket nut torque
7. Keep receipts and do a checklist of the things you did. Take pictures of the work in progress as you do it.

I worked as a tech before, and I will answer on how we did it in our shop.

1.No
2.Yes, replace every seal/gasket you remove. This is a shop liability issue if you don't. If these parts are not on an invoice when they complete the work, you will know if they did or not.
3.The shifting linkage and the actual point where the clutch cable goes into the primary are the only two parts related to the primary cover. A "broken cover" wouldn't keep your bike from shifting. It would, however, cause a leak.
4.Whoever said that about a catch can is full of crap. All you are doing is catching oil mist from the breathers in a can instead of rerouting it into the airbox.
5.If they motor mount has cracks or is ripped, they can replace the rubber. I would inspect your steering head bearing adjustment due to the audible noise in the front end going over bumps.
6.As Dave recommended, have them check your engine sprocket as it sounds like they have your primary off anyway. Otherwise a stethiscope will help you find where the noise is from.
7.Buy H-D/Buell parts ONLY when you work on your bike and keep all of the receipts if you are doing the work yourself. They can't revoke your warranty claims if you do.

Thanks guys!!
I called to day and told them about the other HD/B dealerhsip saying it was bad. Thet said they will check into it.

I will keep you posted on what happens. Im telling you the whole primary cover thing has me wondering about ALL of there reasioning now. It didnt eveb have a scratch on it. It just doesnt make since.

Anyways, we will see, A good thing so far is that it is all SO FAR going to be covered under warranty.

Thanks
