I hope this forum can be of help. I am starting a project that is totally opposite of what would be considered normal. I race Micro Sprints which are powered by motorcycle engines. I am attaching a photo below. The majority of the nation allows 619cc engines on methanol. As of next season the tracks where I participate will allow American Iron V-Twins up to 1000cc. Here are a few specifics of our type of racing:
750 lb. car w/ driver
Tracks range from 1/10th to 1/5th mile in length
Straightaways 220-250ft. in length
Cars are mainly using 600cc R6’s, CBR’s and GSX’s with a few Kaw’s
I realize the power would not be near what the inline 4's put out but my thinking is with certain mods done the XB9 would be very competitive. The torque of the V-Twin should really help the car through and coming out of the corner giving it a advantage perhaps through about 2/3 of the straightaway. I am finding it very hard to find out much about the XB9. This is not a project that would be done for this season but for next year. What does everyone think of this idea?

Wade- nice looking car! I flag at a track called Paradise Speedway in Upstate New York
and we run 125's, 270's, and the 600's. There is a guy that is going to build a micro with a Honda 450F motor. He will be able to run this with the 270 2-strokes AND the 600's! That would be cool to see one of these run out there with a Buell powerplant!!

Thanks. Not my car tho, lol. I will be using a Concept chassis. Personally i wish the 125's and 270's would disappear off the scene. They slow racing down so much with them being push start especially bad after a crash or spinout. That and the fans were not fond of them as they love the speed of the big engines. They are no longer being raced out in our neck of the woods. I also checked out the Aprilia new 550 Moto engine serious deficiency of power against the 600's even with boatloads of torque. The Buell should be very competitive against the 600's I would think.

We get around 6-8 270's every week and just a few 125's. Usually around 25-30 600's!!

Let's hope that is a growing trend with the 125's and 270's. I have checked pricing for building a 270 plus its rebuilds ( a minimum of 4 per season) and the 600's are a better deal cost wise. I don't understand the guys that run them at all.

I've seen the legends cars before with the 1100 motors, but this is new to me.

The torque might give you a little edge on acceleration, and your clutches should last
a lot longer than the 600s. They probably slip them the whole way around the track.

Should be FUN!

polaris 700cc snowmobile motor .. punches out to 780cc .. its a twin .. tularis 780cc .. look it up .. motogp speed & over 100ft. lb. torque at under 7500rpm (i think) 150+bhp .. u will set track on fore & have them all kissing the earth u blaze .. shd be fairly cheap & apparently nth midwest usa & canada have many clued up tuners for these motors ..

oh man .. i have wanted one of these motors in a track bike w/ dirtbike rear for ages as MY personal experiment.

goodluck.
