Stock and ditto on flying under radar.

Whatever turns you on, I guess.

I shift by EAR. As such, I fitted one of Odie's pipes.

Good decision.

Race kit on the 9S, stock on the 12S, hopefully will get a race kit on the 12 by summer's end.

I never thought about the sound attracting "Nesslies" (Eliot Ness/Ness/Nesslies pl.).

I got stock! And I'm not interested in changing anything, except maybe the air filter. Unless you're going to the track, I really don't see a need in it... I mean, honestly, it's a 900-1200cc engine! That's more than enough to get the job done, and done well, especially considering the stock torque. Some people just can't leave well enough alone (and obviously have plenty of surplus income!).

The Buell race kit muffler is perfect to my ear.

The stock unit was way too quiet.

Sounded like a moped to me.

All my bikes, being stock muffled, sound powerful to my ear without being offensive to the general public.

I don't need any additional power for my riding. Besides, at my age, I like the idea of not contributing to my hearing loss so that I can still enjoy listening to live Surf Music while I can.

Face it. Loud pipes kill. . . motorcycling!

And the boys over at Sac**rg think all of us over here only care about being loud. I might do a change if I will get reasobale gains at the bottom end as I do have a steep hill to climb every day, otherwise my plan has always been to stay stock.

Stock is fine for me. XB12S makes plenty of power with a wide powerband, good mileage, and best of all it doesn't bother the neighbors or the law. Stock it will stay.

Everything about them seems to be **'d over here since they take pride in foul language. There's some good info there but lots of haters, too, and I thought there comments didn't fit me well and apparently I'm not alone although outnumbered it seems.

Don't know if I want more power yet after just running the front off the ground about 6" for 30-40 feet after dropping the clutch at about 3000RPM to outduel the previously slow Subaru that ended up halfway into the intersection at a red when I pulled along side. It surprised me but was easily controlled with the throttle nonetheless. Sort of fun, but...

Being from automotive background, the things you always change are more air in - less restriction on the exhaust. I bought my bike with the race kit as part of the deal so I really have no idea what low end I was missing when the race kit was installed. I have since moved on to a Micron system, and as two techs from where I work today said ( one who races a R1, and the other who owns a CBR600 ) "Man, that sounds mean!"

I don't condone loud for the sake of loud.

Only until I can put all the pieces together to go back to stock. Getting old I guess, and tired of coming home with headaches from the noise. Even with full face and ear plugs.

I'm another stocker--as is, my wife thinks the bike is "too loud." And as someone else said, I think I'll just wait until the warranty has expired...

Saw a parked XB9R the other day (I really noticed it, there are so few around here)--it had a Micron pipe on it, but the stock tires looked hardly worn and still had chicken strips. My bike may have stock exhaust, but the Pirellis are worn to the edges!

No, I like stock as do most of my neighbors. I HATE straight pipe Harleys, anyplace, anytime, except a racetrack, where it's the only place they should be run. It's too bad about Loud Pipes save Lives, I consider the nuisance ALMOST enough to sacrifice a few folks TO GET THEM OFF THE STREET. I lived on a busy street once and worked night shift to boot. I hate them, really and truly....

I don't want the sherriff to know I'm comin'

I ride with a guy on a duc with a sweet set of Stain Tunes (sp?). Hear'em comin' for two or three miles. One day, I know he's gonna get us busted.

Got the factory race kit on my 12Ss. Wouldn't have it any other way. Shiny exhaust and sound really finish the bike. Had my friend ride it last weekend and I couldn't believe how great it sounded.

I guess I'm easy to please because I'm satisfied with my stock muffler on my 03' XB9SL.

There is this motorcycle that drives near my house and you don't have to see him to know he's approaching. It's a V-twin of some type and he's got to have a sore wrist with all the throttle blipping he does.

ON the gas, Off the gas, Pull in the clutch, BLIP the throttle, when in the next gear roll on the throttle? NO! Hammer the twistgrip for wide open for 5, 8, 10 seconds and shift/blip again. It would be different if the guy were down-shifting trying to match engine speed to the next lower gear; but he's not. And it's not that I have sensitive ears--for goodness sake I live 2200 feet back a gravel lane off the hard road.

I have no need to announce my presence, I've got a horn for that. I prefer to pass by without fanfare.

It's like perfume on a woman. You've been there she walks in a room 20 feet away and instantly that scent permeates the whole room. Perfume is designed to enhance a womans presence--NOT Announce It!!

That said, would I like to get a different muffler? Yes. One of Kevin's Drummers because 1)I would like the performance increase. 2) With Right side exit my jeans won't stink. 3) He will "tone is down" upon request.

Had full micron race pipes - thing was deafening but power was obvious even without race ecm / air filter mods.

it got me a little too much attention from the girlies... my missus was sat on the back on these occassions...so know i've got a stock setup.

I miss my micron exhaust

Micron loud? as in deafening?
It's no louder than the Buell Race muffler.
Is there more than on Micron?
The Special OPS pipe is way louder than the Micron.

Noise is a SIDE effect. You don't know what you're missing until you have it.

High beams and loud pipes do, in fact, save the occasional life.

there's only one micron system for the buell with the hydroformed blah blah blah.
i've not heard the race muffler though, loud? pretty good power increase? did it get rid of the flat spot? do i need to dyno if no airbox mods? do they sell it in the uk? should i just go and look in the knowledge vault? the truth is out there.

Stock muff on my Uly, so far. I would like to have another stock Uly muffler to experiment on/with.

After reading the exhaust shootout, and hearing the sound bites; I'll leave the stock muffler on the bike.}

I had a Buell Race pipe for a while, but I went back to stock.

Defensive riding saves lives, not loud pipes. All Loud pipes do is alienate the public, and cost us rights.

When I bought my XB9S it had a Latus muffler already on the bike, installed by the dealer.
I don't mind an exhaust that can be heard, but the Latus is painful. The first time I took it to redline my ears rang for 2 days. Riding required that I wear earplugs. All the noise discouraged the use of higher revs.
I had to make some bafffles that I inserted into the 2 outlets to quiet it down a little, so I could forget the earplugs, which get uncomfortable after a while.
The bike is now nicer to ride. I probably lost some top end power, but I know I gained some on the lower rev. range. and am getting better MPG.
I know I would have been happier with the stock or the Buell race muffler.
