Well, the flywheel sprocket nut on my '06 XB12Ss got loose and things started rattlin' pretty bad at idle. I searched the Badweb and confirmed my diagnosis and DaveS reconfirmed it as well (thanks Dave).

I called the salesman from Liberty HD (Mutation_Racer) and caught him mowing his lawn on his day off. He insisted that I let Liberty fix it instead of my first inclination which was to take care of it myself. To make a long story short, a couple of days later its all fixed, no fuss, no muss and nothing but courteous people from the men in the shop, to the service people to the sales force.

Yeah, it was a bit annoying but shit happens and Liberty made it right for free and with a smile to boot. Did I mention that I have a Drummer Cf on it and full data acquisition system spliced into the wiring harness? No problem with the warrantee.

That's Liberty Buell/HD, Rahway, NJ. They are a sponsor here and a great dealership. Ask for Anthony C. if you want a Buell.

Jerseyguy, Just what can you "NOT" do with that full data acquisition system.
Will it data log,and show ya real time where your A/F is at any given time while under WOT and cruise mode.. Also can you have it hooked up and read it while doing all this with no plms... ??

Kind of Highjacking your thread here LoL

It records 44 minutes of real time, on the road data for A/F, speed, RPM, TPS, head temp and acceleration. You can review all data down to 200 millisecond increments in multi line graph format. You can make 3D graphs of any 3 variables. You can spreadsheet all the variables. There's more, but I'll save it for a future thread.

For now I just want to give credit where credit is due at Liberty Buell/HD.

ALWAYS good to hear about a dealership helping out a bueller. all to often they tend to shrug us off so they can work on the h/d bike guys first. EXCELLENT job liberty!!!

I can vouch for Liberty also, I have gotten a few parts from them and I believe it was Anthony that helped me, he is very knowledgeable and when I F'ed up foot shifter he was the only guy that took the time to explain what to expect with the plastic bushings. Do any of you NJ guys get together for rides? I am in Piscataway and ride w/ a few friends from work and my brother and dad.

Liberty has treated me fairly, as well. Bought the bike from them in '04 and haven't seen them for any service for quite some time but it's good to know they will treat their customers right, if/when I need them. Hey Earwig, I might be up for a ride as I am in Fanwood..

Wow, great to hear a good story of a Buell dealer from time to time. I've had both good and bad experiences with various dealers...

So what exactly happens when the sprocket nut gets loose?

If it is loose, it will sound like there is a harsh knocking noise from the front of the primary. This causes extra vibration and can cause misalignment of the sprockets in your primary, damage to the primary chain, and possible stator/rotor problems. You can hear if yours is loose. The rattle/knock will increase and decrease with engine rpm.

A small addition to my above story:

I went to get gas on Saturday as I knew it was getting low before I brought it in for service at Liberty. The pump jockey hands me the nozzle and I start to pump. The damn thing keeps clicking off so the pump guy comes over, looks at me like I'm an idiot and says "it's not pumping 'cause your tank is full". Seems that Liberty filled my tank as well fixing the bike.....
