On my City X I can see the fan that cools the rear cylinder. Can also hear it run after a ride when the bike is shut down. Where is the fan on an 03 XB9R? or is this new just on the 05-06's.

good question. I'd like to know as well. I thought it was all the same.

Guess I want to know the "good" question.

Trivia info:

The fan sucks air away from the cylinder (does not blow).

M1 said it, they're all the same.

All of the XBs use the same fan setup, mounted just behind the rear cylinder head under the seat, triggered by the rear cylinder head temp sensor. If you find an '03 9R that doesn't have a running fan after a long ride on a hot day, it's broken.

If I read what I saw in the true racer ecm software correctly the fan reverses, depending upon if you are moving or not

It appears that the fan operation is controlled by switching and regulating the ground side of the circuit at the ECM. That and the lack of additional wires at the fan for reversing a DC motor............It is my opinion that the only way you can reverse the fan is travel to the Southern Hemisphere!
