I'm confused about the parts needed for the 03-06 belt upgrade. Could someone please answer this post for me?

I have the same bike as you and got the kit from from American Sport Bike along with the front pulley guard for '04/'05 bikes. The pulley guard is needed since the front pulley is larger in diameter (as well as the back). I am running no guards in the back at the moment but may decide against that in the future.

All parts replaced were:

-Front Pulley
-Rear Pulley
-Rear Pulley mounting bolts
-'06 Drive Belt
-Idler Pulley Assembly (bigger pulleys and thicker belt mean old one won't work).
-Front Pulley Cover

Everything but the pulley cover comes in one kit for just under $400 (plus tax and whatnot). Pulley cover was something like $35 or so. You will need to use an Impact wrench to replace front pulley. The new belt is MUCH beefier than the old one.

I didn't change the rear master cylinder but did check clearance...there was about 1.7" between the top of the belt and the bottom of the hard connector coming out of the cylinder while on the stand. With a buddy sitting and bouncing hard on the bike (and he is bigger than I) I never had less than .75" clearance so I felt safe trying it out. I put a little piece of foam on the underside of the hard connector and after 5000 miles there is no rubbing that I can tell so it should be fine.

If that is a bit expensive you may want to consider getting an updated belt specific for the '03 models. Supposedly it is much improved...I just decided to make this switch since the belt was more substantial than the stock one.
