this happened twice earlier tonight. bike is warmed up and ridden, I put it into neutral for a minute and when i tried to go into first the engine just cut out. The gears didn't even start to engage, the engine just lost power and died...I was able to get going, but it took a few tries, then it ran great. anybody out there with some advice? |

Kickstand up? Maybe check the kickstand switch connections. S'what it sounds like to me. |

there's a kickstand connection??? I hate to say it, but that might be what happened. In both instances I had put the kick stand down, and might have tried to start moving with it still down. |

What it idling at cold? I also see you have an 03. You didn't by chance have the kickstand down when you went to put it in gear? I believe the 03's have an engine cutoff switch on the kickstand to prevent you from leaving with it down. |

Sounds like a down kickstand to me. It's happened to me a few times. The first time was most troubling! |

have an 06 and the engine has just stopped cold turkey on me too. not sure why but I know the times it has its been hot enough out to cook an egg on the car so maybe you had it sitting for too long and the engine got hot? Second, if you goose the throttle just right the engine will "sneeze", a Buell tech once told me that it is the positioning of the pistons at the time of opening the throttle that can make her "sneeze". It shouldnt cut off, but wouldnt put it past you that the above is 100% |

Vaneo1, what do you mean by "sneeze"? My bike would sometimes if at the moment when I give it throttle to , say, down shift after I let the rpm dropped to idle rpm (while squeezing in the clutch level, ready to be downshift)The bike seems to want to die and the engine doesn't response for a split second. After that split second, the bike gets back to normal and the engine responses to the throttle input. Is that sneezing? |

Vaneo, is this from idle or while moving? What is your idle speed set at when hot? Should be around 1050-1150. I'll get a pic of my bike idling so I can show people where I keep mine. |
