Well after seeing the contest on the Badweb, I decided to enter the Buell Tourist Trophy Design Contest. I spent a few days (2 weeks) coming up with a design that I would like to see in a helmet. I submitted it and well I logged on today and saw it actually made it to the TOP 10. Out of these Top 10, the winner will have his design produced into a helmet and the Grand Prize winner (as picked by a Buell Rep, Erik himself will win a new Firebolt. Click on events/promotions 3. Click on promotions on the left bar Here is the entry paragraph I submitted with my design... Hello, Attached is my original design for the Buell motorcycle helmet. I enjoyed the numerous hours I spent working on this project and would love a chance to have Erik himself judge my artwork (if I get lucky enough to make the top 10). I currently own an 03 Buell Lightning XB9 and can’t express how much I love every aspect of this machine. These bikes are definitely “different in every sense” and no other bike I ever rode makes you feel like part of the machine like the Buell. My helmet design is based on what I personally would love to wear and see on the street or track. I’m not crazy about the custom airbrushed designs or the common tribal striped looks that take up much of the current market. I like the more subtle approach with an Erik Buell flair such as the colors of the frame and the amber highlights on the XB12, the “Own the corners” slogan, the Buell Pegasus wings on the side, and the technology display of the Buell patents on the back. Yes those obscure numbers are the 3 patents Buell owns for the fuel in the frame, ZTL brakes and under slung muffler. These are just a few of the aspects designed into the helmet to compliment the bike. I think this helmet design is something Erik would find suitable for the Buell brand. Thanks...but there is some cool designs on there. Judging from them I doubt anybody else actually owns a Buell. Not a bad thing though. | ||

I voted for you. You are right, the others don't seem to have much of a Buell theme. The people voting don't seem to be real Buell enthusiasts either judging by the current vote tally. | ||

Thanks to all of you for your feedback and your vote. Don't worry too much about the popular vote from those who don't know the Buell product. The only real vote that matters is Erik. Since I made the top 10 he will get a vote. If he votes for mine I win the bike. If I win the bike I will dedicate it to all the faithful members of the Badweb with a cool decal on the bike. 1stbuell: I did design it in different colors. The black one I did looked cool too but I thought the red would stick out more. The hero blue design would be great as well. | ||

Those are all some really cool looking helmets, but I think yours is the only Purpose Built design for a Buell. I voted for you as you really represent us and Buell well. Your paragraph also really defines your passion for our bikes. Well done and good luck | ||

How about a white base color, with a royal blue wing, orange back/top stripe and black chin bar stripe, and top vents? That would match my bike (white 03 xb9r)perfectly. |
