I was on a website similar to this one that is also dedicated to discussing Buells. There was a post and a message board that discussed plans for the new XB. Details were scarce, but those guys seemed pretty sure that there will be another power plant inside the 07 XBs. I can't remember the site, but is there any validation to what I'm saying? We know as it is currently configured, the V-Rod motor won't fit. However, that would be saying that Buell wouldn't be interested in redesigning the whole bike so that such a motor would fit. No body really knows for sure, but July is coming so lets speculate.

There is always the possibility that they put the XBRR engine in the street Buells, but it obviously be toned down. I see Buell trying to create a race replica like the other manufacturers. They could simply make an XB14R. Now THAT I would consider if it is available when I sell my bike. Otherwise, I may end up with a S3. I like having alot of power from the factory so that I don't have to do anything to the bike later.

They already have a 1450 and a 1350, correct? So it would just be a matter of modifying it.

This is kinda selfish but I hope they don't change the motor : ) I just bought my bike and I hate when something better comes out the very next year : D

I know. I bought my XB9 in August 2003 and the next month, or so the 04 XB12 was out.

I would buy one. But I don't think they are doing anything major to the xb. I recall a thread like this one not to long ago and annoy chimed in and said a few minor changes no major engine changes. With that said I hope maybe he is just trying to throw us off the path.

Why wouldn't they start using the XBRR cases for the 12's? Seems logical to me.

Guys, if Buell released I new engine. I would suspect they would still have the XB engine around to give them an ever better line up. I too would like to see a new engine, but would like them to keep the old banger too.

Guys, Plan on being at homecoming this year. Rumor has it that something will be shown either at the plant or at the track, 07 pre-release.

I hope that they do something for the Firebolt in '07. I know that they did some things to it(ie: swingarm, belt, etc). Maybe a longer version like the Ss....an Rr.

Just a thought.

Originally, the Firebolt came out before the Lightning. This past year most of the attention went to the Lightning models. I'm betting on 07 being the year of the Firebolt.

the bolt is 4 years old without any cosmetic change.

you would bet the house on at least a cosmetic makeover, redesigned plastics to make it more modern lookin

I was originally gonna buy a firebolt about two months agobut decided to hold off a little longer as I will wait and see what happens for 07. It is also the 50th anniversary of the Sporster so I was thinkin there maybe somethin new coming out.
Also after seeing the pics of the xbrr
castings I don't think they are just for 50 bikes per year ,Buell is a small company and Idon't think that so much development would go into a bike like that for only 50 a year.SPeculation is great, I predict a
carbon frame,wheels ,dual ztl ,7-speed button-shifting,150hp/110tq rear wheel,traction control,active suspension,
titanium,carbon etc. etc. etc.

Not sure I could afford that. If Buell wants to sell bikes, gradually adding that stuff may be an option, due to technology getting less expensive, but any time soon will turn that into another over priced Harley.

I for one would love to see the push button shifters from the factory ;)
It would make demo rides a possibility again!

Motorcycledaily.com has been making a lot of noise about the possibility of forced induction in the near future because of direct injection.
How about a ceramic bearing variable pitch supercharger? that would be something to see. lower compression down to 8:1 and boost it!

I'll make some predictions.

Of the complaints I see here about the current model line up I think that the most likely issues for Buell to tackle first would be...

1. Higher redline for the "big" motor. In every magazine article the 1200cc motor gets zinged for it's low redline. No matter if it stays at 1200cc or moves up in displacement I think whatever the future holds for the motor it will be an over square engine.

2. A sport tourer based on the Long chassis. Buell has been methodically patching holes in it's product line-up. The next obvious hole is it's lack of a sport tourer. I would expect that it will be based on the long chassis with similar body work to the Firebolt, sligtly higher clipons, and a way to attach hard bags.

Anyway, I just made these up. But I think both are reasonable predictions for the future.

???

I gotta poke in here and toss in a vote from the other side of the fence.
The R is drop dead sexy. No changes for me. Not in bodywork anyway.

I agree with Mid. The R model is sexy. I wanted that bike when I was shopping around. Insurance and price changed me to the XB9SX. Now, if they were to put a more hp type motor in the R's. Well, then I would probably get one. Right now though, the XB12X is my next one on the list. Hard bags...

I want something kind of like the BMW F650, as a replacement for the blast.

Replacable hardware bits to get seat hight either very low or very high, highway friendly first, trail friendly second, but not really a jumping bike. And make it both more reliable then the BMW, lots less expensive to maintain, and a lot less to buy. Hit that magic sub $6000 price.

Also make as much of it (GPS, hard bags, heated grips, etc) interchangable with the Uly as possible. Kind of a "Uly Light".
