I got one yesterday for 60 in a 40 on a road that I don't speed on. The officer told me that he clocked me with his rear antenna while he was driving in front of me 200 yds up the rd around a bend. I asked to see the read out and was denied. I told the officer that I beleived he was targeting me without any proof of speeding, he kind of chuckled and said, "I'll see you in court." Bastards!

I was pulled over coming back from work at midnight I was going about 120-130 on an open road and had to stop for a stop light. I look in my mirror and there's a cop coming up behind me, when the light turned green he pulled me over. I don't know were he came from he told me he was doing 95 trying to catch me and I was pulling away from him. He asked my how fast I was going I said I had no idea. He was cool about it and because he didn't clock me didn't give me a ticket.

Vaneo... you think the search was bad...here's my experience. I lived in Erie, Pa... My car was having problems so I was using my mothers, what a nice lady; and in doing so I volunteered to take her to work. She was working 12hrs that day therefore had to be there at 4am, so there I was driving back across the city after dropping my mother off at work just before 4AM, in my pajama pants, boots, and a white T. I stopped at a red light, waited for it to turn green, then proceeded to make my left hand turn; I saw the police cruiser parked in the empty Country Fair (75yds away)parking lot, but I wasn't doing anthing wrong so I didn't think much of it. After the turn I am about a block - 2 blocks away from the intersection and a police cruiser comes at an alarming rate right up behind me in the lane; thinking he was trying to arrive at the scene of a crime "stealthily" I signalled and pulled to the side to let him pass. He passed me, then pulled over right in front of me and let me pass him; after I passed him he tailgate me for about a half a mile, then pulled me over, I pulled into a closed store's parking lot. He came up to the car, did the routine, took my items and returned to his car to examine them and do whatever it is they do. A few minutes go by and 3 more cruisers show up... boxing me in; then they all turned on their door window mounted spotlights on me while I was in the car. The officer came back to my vehicle about 10 minutes later ( seemed like an hour with those lights ) and asked me where the vehicle had been registered, I told him where (since I had been with my mother when it was done I knew where), and he told me to have a nice night and walked away. One of the cruisers moved aside and let me continue on my way home at 4AM on a literally empty, besides the cops and I; city street. Funny thing is they never turned the lights off until I was out of the "box" and once I was clear they turned the lights off, got out of the vehicles and just stood there talking. This was just prior to my enlisting, so I didn't have my ID, but from what I hear Erie Police tend to be leniant toward those who serve and protect.
Now I get to deal with the Polizei ... they are always interesting.

Needless to say... I strongly dislike Police with an arrogant attitude, like everyone else I imagine. But on there are some "nice" officers as well. Regardless exercise caution, you never know which one you'll get!

Glad to hear that SOMEONE got away with one. I got NAILED last week. First ticket on a bike. NAturally it occurred while riding the Buell.

I was doing the same thing, just riding home for lunch break to pick up my badge that I had left that morning. HARDLY anyone else on the road, just got out of sitting in the Dr's office for 2 hours for a 5 minute visit.

2 miles from home, I pulled up behind a black PU truck with a cap on it, that was behind a little red car. Both were barely doing 55 (approx). I rolled up behind them doing 70, no way I was going to slow down, but I guess I didn't have to speed up to pass them at that point either. But I did.

And as I went past the truck, I notice an eerily familiar symbol on his door. At this point, what can ya do? I just kept on going. And he didn't pull out, no lights, nothing! Until the light in front of me turned red.

Then he turned the lights on and got behind me. He admitted that he had no idea how fast I was going but that it was obvious that I was doing "in excess of 90mph". I didn't move a muscle. Figured at that point, any comment I made would at the very least, be detrimental to my ability to ride home.

He said that there was no way he could have gotten a radar bead on me, or pace me cuz I went passed him "so damned fast". So he graciously gave me a ticket for "negligent driving" at a cost of one point and $268. "Have a nice day."

Let me guess....it was their fault.

I hate to say it but I don't believe you. I'm eager to be proven wrong. Post the docket number here and prove it.

I've had a lot of speeding tickets, some dandies in fact, over the years. This sounds as bogus as your "everything is wrong with my Buell" claims.

You are hard to believe. Help us with some proof.!

That's funny. Before you buy the "slow" Buell, I suggest you talk to this fella who calims a $5,000 speeding fine.

A "fast" (by the way you saw Buell broke the track record at Road America last weekend, I'm sure) motorcycle could get REALLY pricey!

: )

Got one for doing 64 in a 25 two weekends ago test riding my Brother's 'busa. Good thing that cop was a bit farther down the road. After

I saw the 160MPH mark come up, I decided that's fast enough for me : )

Didn't even see the cop, but he almost hit me when I was waiting for traffic to turn in to my brother's driveway.

I think he thought I was going to flee.

Which, I'll admit, ran through my mind. But where I currently was, was some old neighborhoods in Waukesha that I know like the back of my hand. But not knowing the 'Busa really well, and knowing it handles like a freight train compared to our Buells, I thought, "Not a good idea". : )

1 more MPH, and the cop would have hauled me off to jail, for "Public safety hazard". Cop was definitely a rookie. Most cops around here wouldn't have given me a ticket, seeing as this is the 1st moving violation I've had in over a decade.

Steve - I really hear you on that one. I haven't gotten a ticket in a long, long time and I have certainly deserved them - Buell & Porsche.

One of the tests I do on the Drummers is a fourth gear pull from around 40 to around 115. Its a nice long pull on the interstate and I record really good data. Can you just see me as a 57 year old engineer explaining to a Jersey State Trooper that I was just tuning an engine? I'm scared shitless that he will arrest me & throw away the key.

Yikes! I've heard of people getting off far easier than that.
Unless it's evasion I have rarely heard of anyone spending more
than 1 night in jail for speeding.

I once got an 84+ in a 55 a car because the officer did not
want to have to cuff me and take me in. He was an OK guy and
I deserved the ticket. I was doing pretty close to the same speed
you were, but on the I-5 in Central CA between Modesto and LA
The speed limit kind of gives away the fact that it was
around 15 years ago.
Gave the cop no hassles and got to do traffic school and
get it wiped from my record.

No problem. Just post the summons number or your lawyers name. I have the number of the county traffic court, get me the summons number, I'll visit with them (it'll cost me $5 to get a copy of your case) and I'll be hurrying back here to eat crow.

If you can't find the ticket, perhaps a copy of the cancelled check.

I don't believe you.

I must say that I am a big fan of your Sherrif Trumbo! This guy takes no crap and posts the names of all the inmates in the jail.

Last time I was in Pendleton on a Buell I remember a wrestling match with some kid who insisted he HAD to put the fuel in my bike!

I was on the way from Ellensburg to Boise and what a great ride that was.

Christy in the traffic court is researching it now. Let me know if you find the summons number. I can't find anyone who has ever heard of a $5,000 traffic fine being assessed. I told her to keep looking that you actually PAID one!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh Shelllllllllllllllldon......

I just had a lovely conversation with the District Attorney and Christy in the traffic court.

They would be pleased to take your $5,000. They assess LOTS of $1,000 fines (anything >30MPH over) but have never assessed a $5,000.

It may just be me with my diminished tolerance for people getting on the internet and blowing smoke about their Buell problems, lack of support, etc.

But, I am guessing that since you lied (yes, I am calling you a liar and begging you to prove me wrong...) about your speeding ticket, you MAY have lied about your Buell.

Go away. You are a whiner.

One thing I hold dear, is honesty. One thing my father drilled in to me, and my 6 brothers and sisters, "Always tell the truth, and you'll have less to remember". I've gotten off tickets on many occasions for being honest.

I got pulled over in Northern WI(Near Ahsland), doing 82 in a 55.

Now, for anyone who's actually SEEN me, They'll tell ya, I'm not exactly clean cut, "Professional" type. I'm driving a brand new $30K Explorer at the time. I've not shaved in several days, have ripped up blue jeans, and a tie died t-shirt on. What did save my ass is pulling over BEFORE the Wisconsin State Trooper had a chance to leave the area he was parked in, clocking people.

He comes up to the truck and asks, "What's the reason for you doing nearly 30MPH over the speed limit". I responded, truthfully, "Boring Road?". Got a chuckle out of the trooper. He went back to his squad car, summoned me to join him. I got in the back seat. He questioned me, "How can YOU afford a vehicle like that?", thinking I am some type of drug dealer I'm sure. I tell him my profession, and say, "Oh okay". Well, he didn't ticket me for having expired plates, and doing nearly 30MPH over, just because I pulled over immediately, and was honest as to why I was speeding.

"They assess LOTS of $1,000 fines (anything >30MPH over)"

Yikes! I was caught doing 35mph over the 55 limit in Gwinnett County, Georgia and for some reason the officer wrote me a ticket for only 19mph over. He asked me if I realized the break I was getting and I assured him I did, but I never would have thought it could have cost a G.

It was $170, btw. I was pretty happy when I paid it, too.

On a trip to Vermont last summer, I was pulled over in the Adirondacs doing 92 in a 55. I stopped immediately as did my riding partners.
The officer was pretty polite and after a lengthy discussion, wrote me up for 74 mph (19 over). I sent the ticket in and plead guilty. Since the province of Ontario has an agreement with New York, demerit points are transferable. I was concerned and wrote a short note to the Clerk in the Township of Santa Clara. Some two or three weeks later I received notification as to the fine. $150. The best part though is that they changed the infraction from speeding to a parking violation (no demerit points). I phoned their office to thank them and was told by the clerk that she had discussed it with the officer and, remembering how good natured we were, he instructed her to change the infraction. It sometimes pays to be nice!!
